What do you guys think about this? Stronach doesn't want to comment, however she's willing to be seen in public having a romantic dinner with Tie and holding hands Her title should read Honourable BS. I have no respect for that lady. She treated Peter MacKay like dirt.

I think Domi is in for a surprise too. Linda switches partners as quickly as parties. Does he honestly think she'd give up anything for him? I feel very bad for Domi's wife. After 13 years, this is how she's repaid. Poor kids. Sheesh.

Domi and Estranged Wife Reach Temporary Settlement in Divorce Case

    Attachment 18226Attachment 18227
TORONTO (CP) - Former NHL enforcer Tie Domi and his estranged wife Leanne reached a temporary settlement in their high-profile divorce proceedings Tuesday but the name that set off a media frenzy was not spoken aloud in court and was nowhere to be found in the legal papers.

The negotiated consent order includes agreements on giving child custody to the mother, payment of her legal fees and a restraining order that states Tie Domi is to "be restrained from molesting, annoying or harassing Leanne Domi or from communicating with Leanne Domi."

Neither party was in attendance for the muted courtroom drama, which played out as the local media buzzed with stories about the popular, former Maple Leaf's alleged affair with Liberal MP and heiress Belinda Stronach.

Leanne Domi wanted the divorce to be below the radar and not include Stronach but Tie Domi fought her attempts at getting a fair settlement, and so she went public, according to her application before the court.

"Every effort I have made to get Tie Domi to come to the negotiating table quickly and discreetly has been rebuffed in favour of his own agenda and timing. I have tried to forestall the acrimony of a court proceeding and to resolve matters in an amicable way ... I have tried to confront matters free of Belinda Stronach," she said in the court documents.

The allegations have not been proven in court, and Tie Domi and Stronach have refused to comment.

The preliminary agreement will remain in place until a judicial case conference can be held, where a judge will attempt to mediate a result without further legal action.

"This matter has been very acrimonious, there is a great deal of sadness by Mrs. Domi and by Mr. Domi," Julie Hannaford, lawyer for Leanne Domi, said outside court on Tuesday.

"We are pleased that we arrived at a consent (order) that we believe will be beneficial to the children as well as to the parties."

Leanne Domi was given primary custody of the couple's three children at their home, where Tie Domi is not allowed to visit, except to collect belongings and pick up the kids for visits.

Until child and spousal support is settled, Tie Domi is to pay for any costs related to the home, schooling and recreational activities; $25,000 for Leanne Domi's legal fees; and $10,000 so his total worth can be calculated.

She is seeking $15,246 in monthly child support, $30,000 in spousal support, and $250,000 to hire lawyers and experts for the divorce proceedings.

Leanne Domi said she became frightened about her financial security as the marriage fell apart and she realized their family home had a mortgage of close to $3.8 million and shared lines of credit had "staggering" debts.

"He told me if I kept quiet and didn't hire a lawyer he would give me $1 million in cash and buy me a house for $1.5 million. He told me that if I did hire a lawyer, I would 'get nothing.' He told me that if I 'went through lawyers' he would show that 'all we have is debt,"' she said in her application.

The couple was separated on July 22, months after the alleged affair that Leanne Domi said began in January when Tie Domi started working on Stronach's political campaign.

She said she found that unusual, since Tie Domi seemingly had "little to no interest in politics."

The divorce papers are dated Sept. 18, the day before Tie Domi announced his retirement from the NHL.

He was asked about his rumoured relationship with Stronach at a news conference and said, "I prefer not to talk about my personal life."

It was announced that he would join TSN as a hockey analyst and that is still in the works, said Andrea Goldstein, a spokeswoman for the network.

"Our plans have not changed and we look forward to Tie Domi's debut on Oct. 3," she said.

So Domi has an affair in '99 with Tia Carerre, his wife gives him another chance and 7 years later he's caught again.
    ----------------------------
    Domi accepts partial blame

Former NHL player Tie Domi finally broke his silence Thursday, but stickhandled around the accusations of adultery that ended his 13-year marriage.

Domi, 36, issued a written statement in response to his estranged wife's divorce application that alleged he is involved with Liberal MP Belinda Stronach and had an affair with actress Tia Carrere.

Tie Domi retired as an NHL player on Sept. 19, one day after his wife filed for divorce in a Toronto court.

"After a number of years, my marriage with Leanne has, unfortunately, come to an end," Domi said. "We have worked hard on our marriage but, sadly, it has been a struggle."

Expressing a reluctance to publicly discuss Leanne Domi's allegations, the former Toronto Maple Leafs enforcer figured he was left little choice but to issue a statement because of the ensuing media frenzy.

"As a former professional athlete, I'm accustomed to public scrutiny and well aware that even profoundly personal matters can become fodder for gossip and rumour," Domi said. "That does not make the experience any less unpleasant."

Domi, who retired from the NHL on Sept. 19, didn't mention any relationship with Stronach, but confirmed that he and his wife separated temporarily in 1999.

That was when he allegedly had a relationship with Carrere, who is known for her starring role in Relic Hunter.

"I accept my part of the responsibility for the failure of our marriage," Domi said. "But it has, indisputably, been a shared failure."

    Domis reach settlement

The Domis negotiated a temporary settlement Tuesday morning that gives child custody to the mother, covers all her legal fees and demands that he "be restrained from molesting, annoying or harassing Leanne Domi or from communicating with Leanne Domi."

"I will work hard to isolate my children [Carlin, 12, Max, 11, and Avery, 7] from the pain of this process," Domi said. "I'll concentrate on being a good father and I will continue to build a new career beyond playing hockey."

"This is a painful and private matter," he added. "It is not my intention to speak again about it in public."

Domi, one of the most popular Maple Leafs during his tenure in Toronto, totalled 104 goals and 245 points with 3,515 penalty minutes in 1,020 games over 16 NHL seasons.

He also played for the New York Rangers and Winnipeg Jets.

Domi is just like 95% of athletes, although looks like his wife will take him to the cleaners now and it will be his loss. I can't say I was surprised at all, I have known too many athletes and they are almost all the same.

On to a better note: It's almost hockey season and I can't wait! I'll be going to the Habs last preseason game Saturday! Should be fun. It just sucks that Sheldon Souray is injured and I won't see him play

I have trouble getting excited about hockey until there's snow on the ground. Years and years of training has done that to me.

MissKitty....you mentioned the S word! Lol

I know what you mean though there is something about snow!

I get most excited about hockey when I can take the little ones to the free skating at the local arena....you know it's close to hockey and snow when that starts up again!

The Habs traded Riberio....I must say I'm not too sad to see him go...I found him to be pretty inconsistant.

Not too sad, eh? 80% of Habs fans are declaring Gainey a god just for this trade. I'm not part of the 80%, but I'm glad he's gone. Tomas Plekanec is ready for the second line.

What are the Stars doing, anyway? Modano, Lindros, Halpern, Stefan, Barnes, Ribeiro, Eriksson...all centers.

It's weird, though. The Habs part with a French-Canadian and the Stars trade a Finn!

Also, I really like the new NHL.com.
