Montreal is getting back on track.Looks like Huet will be out for the rest of the season though. Now they have to count on Halak a young goalie. It must be a stressing situation for Carbo.I think they can do it. They just need some motivation.

I'm not convinced the Habs are totally back to normal, we won against pretty weak teams and the Columbus game wasn't convincing at all.

I'm hoping Halak will be the new Ken Dryden.

Anson Carter has been traded from Columbus to Carolina for a 5th round pick in 2008.
I might be slightly offended if I ws him

Apparently the Yotes have asked Laraque to waive his no trade clause and he's been on a local radio program claiming he'll be playing for a different team by Tuesday.
Pittsburgh still looking like the favourites to land him.

There's been talk in the local paper here fluff that maybe it's time to get rid of MacLean as it appears "that the only spoke that has not been changed on this broken wheel is the GM." Hitch was asked about being GM and coach and his response was basically no way in hell. Wish I could find the article to link to.

Carter's not having a great season, but a 5th seems like a real underpayment.
On the plus sifde, his is now '"Hurricane Carter" which will no doubt please the headline writers
There's also talk that Adam Foote might be available, so the trading might not be done at Columbus, Unk.
I think only Jaques Martin is coach and GM, but even he has an assistant GM now.
It's seems like a tall order to do both jobs, but I would bet Hitch is capable.

Also yesterday, Shane Endicott was traded to the Stars for a bag of pucks.

Makes me wonder why Vancouver didn't go after Carter. No, not just Vancouver, any team with a 4th round pick left. He's kind of a very poor man's Ryan Smyth.

What the Jackets really need to do is trade Zherdev while people think he's actually going to put it all together.

That talk is in the papers here already.
Here's an interesting article that was in the local paper (Columbus Dispatch, minority owners of the Blue Jackets FWIW ) where they had 5 NHL scouts who were promised anonymity of course give their take in the team.

Couldn't agree more with those scouts. The Jackets are kind of a mess..

    Two trades yesterday

    To Anaheim:
    G Gary Coleman
    1st rounder

    To Tampa Bay:
    D Shane O'Brien
    3rd rounder

I don't get it. Maybe O'Brien's a good defenseman and not just a tough guy like I thought, but I really doubt it...

    To Atlanta:
    D Alexei Zhitnik

    To Philadelphia:
    D Braydon Coburn

Seems like severe overpayment by the Thrashers, but after crumbling down the stretch last season, Atlanta probably wants to prevent that this year.

I hate CBC. At least the late game was really, really, really good.

Sorry for the double post, but Atlanta made another awful trade.

    To Atlanta:
    LW/C Keith Tkachuk

    To St. Louis:
    C Glen Metropolit
    1st and 3rd round pick in 2007
    2nd round pick in 2008

    More overpayment by Waddell...
Atlanta's got a #1 center for the playoffs, at least.

That is to high a price to pay for a player who is past his prime.
