    Surprised that Jaromir Jagr was left off the squad. Fluff, I agree there should be more than one Nashville Predator, maybe Paul Kariya, on the Western conference all-star team. Good job Rusicade.

    Oh, I agree. More Predators were needed. Koivu and Markov, as well!

    Also, I realized that every team is represented.

    With two 23-player rosters, that leaves only 8 "extra" spots for each team, and even then that number is smaller with the 3 Buffalo and 2 San Jose starters.

    Still, Staal or Williams could've been replaced by Kovalchuk or Jagr and Zetterberg by Kariya.

    I would have loved to have seen Kariya there.
    I obviously have no idea what criteria they use to select the roster additions.
    I'm delighted J.Bo has made it, but doubt he would have done without the apparently unwritten rule that all teams should be represented.
    The only other viable candidate from Florida was Jokinen and competition for forward spots is tougher.
    No offense to Williams, I'm just shocked to see him there.
    I would have thought Brind'Amour would have made the squad ahead of either him or Staal.

    Oh well, J.Bo's inclusion might be enough to make me watch it.
    I'd like to see the skills competition if nothing else.
    I think the Leafs skills competition is on Leafs tv which we don't subscribe to.
    I did manage to catch part of the Vancouver skills a few weeks back though.

    I always watch the skills comp. It's one of the highlights of the season for me.

    What isn't a highlight of the season so far is this beating the Sens are giving the Habs.

    Here's the Young Star rosters:

    EASTERN CONFERENCE

    Goaltender
    Kari Lehtonen, Atlanta Thrashers

    Defensemen
    * Mike Green, Washington Capitals
    Andrej Meszaros, Ottawa Senators
    Ryan Whitney, Pittsburgh Penguins

    Forwards
    Patrick Eaves, Ottawa Senators
    * Phil Kessel, Boston Bruins
    * Evgeni Malkin, Pittsburgh Penguins
    Zach Parise, New Jersey Devils
    * Jordan Staal, Pittsburgh Penguins
    Alex Steen, Toronto Maple Leafs
    Thomas Vanek, Buffalo Sabres

    WESTERN CONFERENCE

    Goaltender
    Peter Budaj, Colorado Avalanche

    Defensemen
    * Matt Carle, San Jose Sharks
    Brent Seabrook, Chicago Blackhawks
    * Ladislav Smid, Edmonton Oilers
    Shea Weber, Nashville Predators

    Forwards
    Ryan Getzlaf, Anaheim Ducks
    Jussi Jokinen, Dallas Stars
    * Anze Kopitar, Los Angeles Kings
    * Alexander Radulov, Nashville Predators
    Lee Stempniak, St. Louis Blues
    * Wojtek Wolski, Colorado Avalanche

    Once it got to the point where it looked like Ottawa would win, i.e. 4-0 after the first, I hoped Emery would get the shut out.
    I admit to not knowing a great deal about hockey, but I felt Emery deserved a shot at the starting goalie position after how well he played last season when Hasek basically bailed on them.

    Of course a 4-0 lead doesn't ensure a win.
    Florida managed to pull defeat out of the jaws of victory by going down 6-4 to Carolina after leading 3-0 ealier in the week

    Overall I'm pleased with that list. I don't see Pronger anywhere and Miikka and Dion made the cut. Slightly surprised that Iginla didn't, but I'm not unhappy about it.

    Loving Hockey Day in Canada! I didn't realize it was such a big deal before today.

    Hockey Day In Canada started in 2000, but the first I heard of it was when I was living in Red Deer in 2001 and it was there, they had a pick up game that broke the world record. Was pretty cool to watch so closely.

    p.s Woohooo Alfredsson on a 5 point night!! Sure helped my fantasy team

    HNC said they didn't pick Ignila, Jagr, or Pronger for AllStars because of their injuries. Wouldn't show up anyways. Awesome to see that Ryan Smyth is going for the first time ever. Smitty sure deserves it. One of the guys on HNC said they should have a tip in contest in the skills competition for Ryan to win since that's his speciality.

    Tasteless and Disgusting joke by the Ottawa Senators.

    During the first period, they ran a clip on the big screen of the Sens mascot and a habs fan chasing eachother on a boat.The habs fan then throws himself off the boat ( in reference to Bob Gainey's daughter). Horrible and incredibly heartless! They obviously appologized and claimed it wasn't meant that way but i mean come on ! They are proffesionals! They do this for a living! How could they have made such a huge mistake?!
