Even after her was fired as coach of the Flyers they took him on as a scout, so he was obviously well thought of at Philly, Unk, he just wasn't working as their coach this season.
It was suggested by some Canadian hockey analysts that he "lost the room" at Philly, i.e. the players were no longer responding to him.
I don't know enough about the Blue Jackets (or hockey in general to be honest) to know if they're any better off with Hitchcock, but I would think they likely are. He might be able to help Nash get his season back on track, because he's been fairly disappointing so far.
On a sour note (imo) Pronger is second to Niedermeyer in the All-Star game voting for Western conference defencemen(<----- that's for Pronger, not Scott).
Canadian angel will be pleased to know Kipper is leading the goalie votes for the west and IIRC Iginla is one of the top three vote getters among the forwards.
