Els, Garcia, and Duval have all been eliminated in the first round (Els and Dival in playoff holes, and Garcia blowing a 3-point lead in the last 5 holes). Tiger moves on, which is better than last year. He plays K. J. Choi today.

Duval choked on a birdie putt to win. He just hasn't been the same since he hurt himself last year.

This format sure promotes upsets, doesn't it? Weren't the top 4 seeds all eliminated in the first two rounds last year?

I see they've abandoned the 1-to-64 numbering scheme in favor of honoring some old golfers. Must feel better to be a #16 seed than to be a #64.
When you're ten years old and a car drives by and splashes a puddle of water all over you, it's hard to decide if you should go to school like that or try to go home and change and probably be late. So while he was trying to decide, I drove by and splashed him again. - Jack Handey

I love the idea of this tournament, but it will be upset prone. In any given match the 64th best guy can take down Tiger. That kills the ratings for what should be a great tournament.

The 62nd seed won it all last year.

If memory serves, that final match was pretty exciting, even though it was between two middlin' golfers.

Tiger and Mickelson have both advanced. Mickelson has never made it past the third round. Sutherland, defending champ, pulled out a win by playing the 18th hole down the 1st fairway.

Who was that guy that nailed that 99-foot putt on 18? Toms? I don't how long that thing was, but he was on the fringe at the far end of the green and buried it. Awfully damned impressive.
