I'm not happy about that. Not happy at all.

Neither is my Ukrainian soccer-bunny

US and Italy game. What a first half. My head is still reeling.

Italy scores 20 minutes in. Then, they score again BUT IN THEIR OWN NET!
Not even 1 minute later, Italy gets a red card. Luckily, by the end of the first half, US gets a red card too. So the score is 1-1, with 10 players in each team.

I have to say I am freaking out that Zaccaro scored in his own net and I don't get what the h*ll de Rossi was doing when he elbowed a US player.

Toni and Girlando are stars though. Now they brough in workhorse Gattuso, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Sorry, my american friends.

The US got a second red card and the game finished 1-1. The real shocker was Ghana beating the Czech Republic 2-0. Wow. So now, any of the four teams could advance to the next round.

I was rooting for Italy in the beginning, but quickly changed to be a US supporter. They played better for the most part, and weren't whiners. Gah...I hate the fake rolling around, crying etc. Take it like a man, I say...

It always cracks me up when someone takes a dive and gives a really unconvincing performance of being mortally wounded.

And, DesertRose, it is a tough group but after the U.S. got whipped in the first game if the Czechs had beaten Ghana as expected, Ghana would have been eliminated from advancing and the U.S. basically would have had no shot of advancing. The standings would have been:

Czech Republic 6 pts
Italy 4 pts
U.S. 1 pt
Ghana 0 pts

The streets are dead down here when soccer is on. I am kinda rooting for Argentina, since they are closest. I just like to see a good game, and honestly, kind of root for the underdogs. Go Ghana!

I really liked the Australia - Brazil match.....way to go Aussies for putting up one big fight and shuting down Brazil the best they could (still a 2-0 loss for the Aus) Aussies had a few chances as well but just couldn't do it. I like Brazil but also enjoy seeingthe under dogs shining! Australia have only play 4 World Cup games compared to the 188 Brazil has played.....good work Aussies!!

Well England played better today...but they couldn't have gotten much worse. I am sorry that Micheal Owen got injured, it looked really painful to me.
