Yay, Australia won gold in swimming! We would have won lots more gold if Ian Thorpe or Grant Hackett were competing.

Canadians WIN Four Medals

Marilou Dozois-Prevost smiles as she successfully wins under 48 kg category

GOLD by the men's gymnastics team of Kyle Shewfelt, Adam Wong, Nathan Gafuik and Grant Golding, all of Calgary, and David Kikuchi of Halifax.

SILVER - Montreal's Marilou Dozois-Prevost - women's weightlifting

SILVER - Andrew Hurd of Oakville, Ont., the men's 400-metre freestyle swim event.

BRONZE - Yannick Lupien of Ste-Foy, Que., Victoria's Matt Rose, Colin Russell of Barrie, Ont., and Brent Hayden of Mission, B.C., -men's 4x100-metre freestyle swim relay.

Canada is third in the medal standings behind Australia (12) and England (seven).

Australia have won LOTS of medals in swimming!

And we also won a gold in girls triathlon and she collapsed.

I am loving the commonwealth games!

Another update for Australia:

We got another gold, silver and bronze in the woman's 20KM walk!

28 golds in total.

Everyone seems to be doing quite well at the Games. It's not televised here, but I get updates.

SentFromHeaven: How are you doing since the Cyclone Larry hit? It seems everyone is ok except for damage. Are you anywhere near Innisfail? I have no idea. I guess I should look on a map. Let us know.

Actually miskitty, I live in Victoria which is about 2 hours from Innisfail, but some relatives I know live there and it is a very tough moment for them since they lost their house. Hope they're okay though.

WOW We won 10 medals Tuesday!

4 GOLD, 3 SILVER and 3 BRONZE. That raises the Canadian total to 47 overall (11 gold, 20 silver, 16 bronze). Canada is third in the medals table, behind Australia's 141 and England's 66.

Gymnasts have now won 13 of Canada's 47 medals at these Games.
The swimmers did their part, capturing four medals, giving the Canadian swim team 16 at the meet, surpassing its goal of 12 medals.

The shooting team also won a pair of medals.

It's a shame Australia bombed out of shooting. Oh well we are about to reach our commonwealth best of 200 medals. Hope we can break it.

Almost over. I have to admit I really enjoyed the Commonwealth Games this year. Especially since Australia won lots and lots of medals.

We won a whole bunch more medals too! I dont know how we're doing overall compared to our best. I think Australia has done a marvelous job of hosting all around!
