I'm a SNOW LOVIN' Gal, so I like skiing, snow boarding AND hockey! I'm all set to watch them now!
love the winter games.... Downhill, bobsledding, luge, skijumping, skeleton, and Curliing. Would love to try any of them...well most of them.
It's all about the hockey for me. It's too bad all of the start times are so early here.
I like the hockey and bobsled events. Some of the skating is okay. I have to root for a hometown pair in the doubles. Mary Hinzmann is from Columbus and her partner Aaron Parchem was born here.
All I am going to watch is the ice skating. The other stuff doesn't interest me.
Yeah! :yay The Winter Olympics are finally here! I would watch 24/7 if I could.
I agree. I'm stuck here in the States with only NBC and their coverage. Some of the stories are touching and inspirational, but the majority just seem excessive and time-wasting. Before the games even began, I was annoyed with all of the NBC promotions and commericals. I'm only interested in ice skating, but I'm not looking forward to NBCs coverage, because in the past, they have only focused on a handful of athletes, i.e. Americans expected to win gold and the foreign competitors who may take the gold away from them. Everyone else only gets coverage if they "happen" to win, there is a scandal, or they have a really inspirational story (which I don't mind). As a result, if the US does not perform well or dominate in a certain sport, little or no coverage is given to it. I also get sick of the medal count totals. Do other nations do that? If they are going to do it, they should do it once at the end.
Overall, I've gotten really bored with the commercialism of the olympic games. I really don't think that olympic athletes are eating a lot of McDonald's as they train for the games. I'm also bored of all the attention that the Today show spends on olympic pin collecting and trading.
I read somewhere that American Idol is expected to beat the Olympics in ratings.
