WE WON !!! :YAY
WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS, WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS, .....
OF THE WORLD!
I would also like to send my respects to the Gretzky family upon the passing of their mother. I read today that:
"Two weeks after his wife Phyllis lost her battle with lung cancer, Walter Gretzky is on the road with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
It's a therapeutic gift from son Wayne, with a little help from Canadian Olyulmpic team coach Pat Quinn, also coach of the Leafs.
...No 99 purchased the Leafs' road trip at a Hockey Canada auction last summer and bequeathed it to his dad. Walters gets the full-meal deal: a seat on the Maple Leafs charter, a nice hotel room, free access to Mats Sundin and company tonight in Calgary at Rexall Place on Sat. night and in Vanc. on Tues. ..."
"..Now, Walter is trying to fill his days with hockey -- what else? He apologizes that he might not remember people an hour after talking to them after suffering a stroke 15 years ago..."
I had the honor and pleasure of meeting Walter Gretzky during Universiade '83. He was a very genuine and funny man. (reminds me of my Dad). The Oilers were Sports Ambassadors to the Games. Mr. Gretzky asked me what I thought of Wayne's hair at the time, which was quite long. I said it looked fine but I prefered shorter hair on men. Mr. Gretzky smiled and said Me too. I'll never forget that.
