    Derby Day!

Holy Cow, I'm in the sports forum! Its a crazy, crazy day. Anyway, is there anyone else watching the Derby today? Or is that just something that we Kentuckians are nutty about?

I'll watch, even though I haven't a clue who's running. Back in my horse crazy days, ages 11-14, I followed all the races leading up to the derby and knew all about the entries.

I've watched almost all of them, but I've been really into it for about five years. My pick is Afleet Alex or Sun King. Woohoo! I've not had time to keep up with it this year, though, so i could be WAY off.

We have watched every year since I was little. I remember the neighbor folks putting all the horses names on slips of paper, paying $5 to draw a slip and if your horse won, you got the cash. I never won, but my mom won several times. I would love to see the derby live in person, just so I could wear a huge hat and drink a mint julep.

The horses are warming up and ready to run!! I'm so excited. Alone in my excitement, but excited anyway. Now that I've seen them come out, I'm going with Bandini. He's raring to go today.

OH MY GOSH!!!! He was like the second biggest longshot. Wow. I'm totally stunned. I love to see a Kentucky horse win, though. Wow.

Last I checked, his odds were 50-1. I should have known to bet on him when I heard Sir Richard Branson did.

I don't really like the reporter in the jockey's face as soon as the race is done.
