Thursday Practice

Rain wipes out Thursday morning practice session

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Overnight rain punctuated by another mid-morning outburst wiped out the morning Nextel Cup test session Thursday at Daytona International Speedway.

The delay was the first of any significance in Preseason Thunder and it came on the third and final day of preparation for Speedweeks 2005. Consequently, it called into question many teams' hopes of having any drafting practice Thursday afternoon.

Friday is available as a potential rain day, but to draft or not to draft was something a lot of teams had already considered.

Ryan Newman was one of the teams testing Dodge's new Charger model that said drafting practice would have been essential to get a true fix on the difference between the two cars.

Rest of story here
Basically it says the afternoon practice was for drafting and the Dodge teams were looking forward to it to see how the new Charger handled.

Doing good Lee! Much better now that NASCAR is getting closer.

Harvick skipping Daytona testing, Kerry to test:
Kerry Earnhardt is assigned to test Harvick's #29 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet next week during the second round of Nextel Cup Series Preseason Thunder. Earnhardt has a busy testing schedule. Earlier this week, he tested RCR's #33 Chevrolet that he'll try to qualify for the Daytona 500. Man I miss being at the track for testing and getting in the garage area. Used to go to the track for December and January testing, Arca race and bud shootout, Goody's 300, Daytona 500, and Pepsi(firecracker) 400.

I'm impressed with the Morgan-McClure boys, Mike Wallace in the 4 car and McClure's son Eric, a rookie in the 73 car, running the speeds they are.
