Hey, Geoff Bodine is going to try!! Cool!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!" -- Steve Parker

Add Derrick Cope to the list.
Cope to attempt Indy: Derrike Cope has been added to the Entry List for the Brickyard 400 in the #62 Chevy by SWAT Racing owned by Larry Hollenbeck [of the Busch Series], some past info on the team at swatracing.com.(8-3-2004)

DEI decided not to enter the 1 car for John Andretti
UPDATE 2: Despite intense efforts to secure a sponsor for this weekend’s Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Dale Earnhardt, Inc. will not enter the #1 Chevrolet with John Andretti in the race. During the previous race weekend at Pocono Raceway, Richie Gilmore, Director of Motorsports for Dale Earnhardt, Inc., indicated a sponsorship pursuit for this weekend’s prestigious race was taking place. However, as of Tuesday, no sponsor could be signed for the 11th annual race on the historic 2.5-mile oval. “We had two sponsorship opportunities we were pursuing,” Gilmore said. “But, we just weren’t able to get anything worked out in time for Indy. It’s really tough because we wanted this for John’s sake more than anything. He’s done a lot for DEI since coming on board last year and we all know how much that track means to John.”(DEI Site)(8-3-2004)

Okay, I'm confused. Other cars race without major sponsors, right? Why couldn't DEI let him run one weekend without a sponsor? Especially since "we all know how much that track means to John.”

Glennajo, that is one damn good question, just why couldn't they field a car for one race?

Here's the rest of the press release I quoted earlier:
John has participated in the Indianapolis 500 seven times and from 1991-1994 he finished in the top-10 each time. In 1994, he became the first driver to qualify for both the Brickyard 400 and Indy 500 in the same year.

“John has done everything we’ve asked as far as racing, testing and filling in like he did for Dale Jr. last week at Pocono,” Richie said. “I wish we could have come up with something financially solid for this week at Indy.”

Friday will be a practice day at Indy with qualifying on Saturday at 11 a.m. (ET) and racing on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
Hmmm....Sounds like they just didn't want to go into their own pocket for it.

yes, and thats the part that sucks, you can't tell me DEI doesn't have the cash to field one race for an unsponcered car? man they must have too much of a budget.

Man, Casey's on a roll! I think I'll dump Harvick for this week, he didn't do as well as I thought he would.
