The UK media reaction to England's defeat would make you think the world had ended. Very OTT.

    I don't think it's OTT at all.
The media reaction would be the same in any country.
I can only imagine how the French media covered them crashing out of the world cup, same with the Italians.
It was bad enough here in Canada, let alone in France or Italy.

It was a bad loss in the dying minutes of the game, the media and the public is going to take it hard, it was very disappointing.

Latvia are currently upsetting the Czech Republic, leading 1-0 at half time.

Netherlands v Germany is on later.
I'm looking forward to that one.

Bad goalkeeping and defending leads to Czech Republic taking the lead with just five minutes left to play.

The giant-killing looks like it's been avoided.

Edited to update - Czech Republic wins 2-1.

Yeah fluff, I'm looking forward to that Dutch-German match too. I'm even staying up late just for that one.

to Czech for winning. It would have been an upset if Latvia won. Not that I have anything against Latvia, but i think Czech is worthy of a quarterfinal spot.

    Germany and Netherlands drew 1-1.

I think Holland were slightly the better team, but as always the only stat that matters is the number of goals.

Morientes just scored for Spain. For now, Spain is leading Greece 1-0 in the 38th minute.

Spain is a definite possibility for Quarters in Group A.
And Real would be crazy if they let go of Morientes. He's a gem.

    That was a great goal.

Greece are hanging in there though.
Their national side has come along way in recent years.
If they could sneak a draw here they'd be in really good shape.

The Portugese face Russia later today.
    They really need a win.
The hosts not making the quarters would not be good.

If they could sneak in a draw, it would spell trouble for the host, Portugal since the Portugese side lost to the Greeks in the opening match.

I'd really like to see Portugal in the Quarters or even the Semis. I adore the coach, Scolari, and players like Deco from Porto and Cristiano from Manchester United add spark to the final stages of the Euros.

Edited : Wow, fluff, Greece did equalised in the 67th min with a Charisteas goal. Right after Spain replaced Morientes with Juan Carlos Valeron.
