I am actually surprised at how well the Tigers are doing this year.
The past few years, they just seemed to get worse and worse. I don't know
what made things turn around for them this year. I don't expect them to win
it all this year, but I think they will at least have a post-season.

The braves have lost every game since I posted this. I'm never bragging again.

Alex Rodriguez better bring his ear plugs next year when he comes back to Seattle. When asked about the Yankees miserable 22-0 loss last night he said, "I suffered through some long years in Seattle." WTF?!? The Mariners went to the playoffs 3 of the 6 years he was here. Two of the other years, they were in the hunt until the last few weeks. This year is a long year in Seattle. Apparently finishing dead last in the division three straight years in Texas wasn't as bad as going to the playoffs with the M's. Yuck. The boos and fake money had just started to die down (I never booed), but I predict he's really going to be hearing it on his next visit to Safeco.

On a better note, Ichiro is on fire with 56 hits in the month of August. He has a chance to break George Sisler's ancient record for most hits in a season. This is going to be fun to watch.

Ichiro has three more hits so far tonight.

Greenie, I think you need to take the fork out. I'd love nothing more than for the Red Sox to overtake the Yankees but regardless looks like the Sox will make the playoffs.

I think maybe if I try and remain disinterested they will continue to do a fantastic job.

But I don't want to say that too loud. . .
Who shot who in the what now?

Arod is an idiot. He says the dumbest things in the world. How about the one where he didn't know he was going to be playing with 24 kids in Texas? Um, sorry Alex, but those 24 kids went from last place with you on the team to a playoff race WITHOUT YOU. :rolleyes

What do you mean? Tom Hicks told Arod they'd be contenders even though he was going to be 60% of the payroll and they had no pitching. How was he to know the Rangers would suck? All he was interested in was winning. :rolleyes He has developed an interesting pattern of putting up great statistics and then having teams he leaves get better.
