Hargrove to help develop young talent in new role

CLEVELAND -- Mike Hargrove still wants to manage in the Majors, but hes more than satisfied right now to have a legitimate job in baseball again.
After being relieved of his managerial duties in Baltimore last month, Hargrove, 54, will return to the Indians as a senior advisor to baseball operations. It is not some token job, he said. Its not a just a steppingstone to another managerial job either.........

I always liked Hargrove. Never did blame hom for Cleveland not winning either series they were in.

How come no team has actively pursued the Expos' Vladimir Guerrero? He is an amazing ball player.

Huh? Vlad is in the news all over the place! Everyday there is new speculation on where V is going to end up... he'll get even more air time once the dust clears on the big name pitchers.

He is the class of the free agent market this season.

I think the complication for him is that the Expos are controlled by MLB, so any resigning offer is known by all the teams in theory, which would be collusion. There is some talk that they want to find a way around that, lest the owners get hit with another several hundred million dollar penalty.

The local English paper has a very sad sports section so I don't read much about Vladi.

Sadly, baseball is becoming less and less about baseball for me. I just can't get too excited about a team anymore. I was a Dodger fan for forever until I moved to Colorado and the Dodgers traded Piazza. Now, I follow baseball closer than ever, but only so I can contend in my fantasy baseball carry-over league. Which means that for me, the most damaging move of the off-season so far was the A's sending my $1 catcher, Ramon Hernandez to the NL.
