This is sad. It's all over the news here in Minnesota because Herb Brooks was from Minnesota, coached hockey at U of Minn, and died on the highway here today. All kinds of speculation about the cause of the car crash.

At least someone cares enough to post. I love Minnesota. I want my parents move back, but, what can I do?

Ack, the state patrol had a press conference. They're not sure if he had a heart attack or stroke or something, but a single car accident, he drifted off the highway, over-corrected and went all the way across the busy freeway without hitting any other cars and rolled his minivan mulitple times. The state patrol stated he may have survived the crash if he'd have had a seat belt on, but no chance without it because he got ejected. Very sad.

The Miracle on Ice team. They used to show the gold medal winning game on ESPN Classic a lot.

Thanks for the info LG. Herb made his mark in US hockey and will be remembered always for the Miracle on Ice.

Was Herb retired or was he still coaching somewhere?

He also coached the last US olympic team . He turned down Sathers offer to coach the Rangers. A wonderful what if.

( he might have not been on that road and would have done something with that sorry crew)
