NASCAR will be announcing on June 19, that Telecom/Nextel will be the major sponsor of NASCAR racing's top circuit next year at approximately $70 million a year for the next 10 years. RJR Tobacco was spending $30-60 million a year and announced that they were leaving stock car racing at the end of the year. NASCAR hopes that this will get more young viewers to the sport with a more politically correct sponsor.

The only question now, what do you call the trophy? The Nextel Cup series? How about the NASCAR trophy series?
