On the slopes, the wind looked brutal! I’m so gutted for the athletes, as this really messes up their great moments.
I didnt know if I could post it, but a news article about Slopestyle for women, shouldn't be pushed ahead like it was,and why so many just gave up battling the wind! Its not in use for 6 days, so why the rush..it was also extremely cold...

Mirai and her triple Axel, phenomenal ..

And Chloe Kim's father! Gotta love a guy who takes a sign kids at his daughter's rink gave him, laminates it, and hauls it halfway around the world so they can see him waving it on TV.

Unfortunately, for some sports, like figure skating, that tend to be bigger television draws, the TV contract for American television, which is a pretty lucrative one, insists on some sports being broadcast live. So, given the time difference, that meant that Team figure skating started at 11:00 a.m. in Korea, which isn't really a normal start time for skating competitions. Nor is it that easy a time for people to get there to sit in the stands. I suspect the same may be true for some other events, too.

Those figure skating dresses cost THOUSANDS of dollars. You'd think they could design one that didn't go right up the girl's bum within 30 seconds. That Russian skater's dress was wedged in there so far it was almost a colonoscopy. It was distracting. It seems like that wouldn't be acceptable to the judges. I'm not a prude, but it was a bit lewd. At one point, it looked like she was bare bottomed. Plus, how is that not uncomfortable!?

I know. He's so great at his sport, but it's hard to root for him after you read about that case. I can still appreciate his skill and ability, but yeah, YUCK.

That’s disappointing about those allegations; sounds like the case was settled. Hope he learned something, and won’t repeat that behavior.

I wondered about no one really jumping to congratulate him until his family got to him. There’s always more going on that what we’re shown. From a purely Olympic standpoint, it is fitting that Shaun White won the USA 100th Winter Olympic medal. His pioneering work in the sport is noted. Those top three competitors were out of this world! Scotty James & Ayumu Hirano are so young, who knows how far they’ll push the sport. When these three were in the half pipe, they seemed in control of their runs. The others made me nervous.

Regarding pairs figure skating, what a close completion it’s going to be for the bronze! The long program is going to be so exciting. I’m partial to the Chinese team, Sui/Han, winning the gold as they had everything: style, emotion, skills, and artistry. Also the Knierem’s are so cute enjoying their Olympic moment, I don’t even care how they skate

Re: Winter Olympics 2018 - South Korea

Sean White is known for his ego, selfishness, sexist behavior and sense of entitlement. A prime example of his sense of entitlement occurred during the 2014 winter Olympics. Slope style was new to the Olympics. Though Sean White was not a slope style athlete he decided he wanted to compete in it at the Olympics in hopes of netting two gold medals. That meant one of four athletes already in contention for that final slope style slot would be removed from consideration. Why? Sean White is the most well known snowboarder in America. And a way to grow and sell slope style to the casual Olympic viewer would be to put a big name in there, rather than putting in a lesser known slope style competitor who actually earned the spot. That's how Brandon Davis lost his spot on the team. He found out via a text message. Fast forward to the slope style event at the Olympics. Sean White dropped out of the competition just a day before the event. Which meant alternate Davis did not have any time to make it to the event. As Davis said, "for Sean it's no big deal to drop out. But for me, having that spot means so much. It could jumpstart my career. " By that he meant gaining sponsorship to aid funding his pursuit. White is a millionaire a few times over. He decided his chances at winning the gold were slim to none. He cited a dangerous course. But, other slope style athletes had to ride the same course. For White, who was ill-prepared, it was merely an event he could drop if need be since his specialty was the half pipe.
NBC's refusal to acknowledge White settled with a woman out of court, choosing to promote him as THE OLYMPIAN , is not surprising. Because when it comes down to it, more viewers mean more money. And White is a draw based on name recognition. It's always about money. It trumps decency. I followed the case and the texts he sent are just grotesque and not something you want to reprint here. White also exposed himself to her. Settling out of court was an admission she had a strong enough case to possibly win. White cannot deny the texts or e-mails because they were released to the court. The media ignored what White did and NBC continues to enable people like White.
Also of note, Whites sponsors had a private half pipe built for him in South Korea. It's not uncommon for top competitors to get this perk. In the laid back atmosphere of snowboarding top competitors share their private half pipes with competitors who don't have that advantage of big sponsorships. However, Sean White refuses to share his perks.
For me, I will always be more impressed with athletes who manage to make it to the Olympics without all the money and facilities and specialists to support them. It's inspiring.

No I'll stand my ground//And I'll keep this world from draggin' me down/Gonna stand my ground/Well I know what's right/I got just one life/In a world that keeps on pushin' me around/But I'll stand my ground/And I won't back down-Tom Petty
