Ashley can say whatever she wants now about "creating a life with someone" but if she is the Bachelorette, she will look for someone who can fit into hers. Her aspirations in Dentistry I am sure mean long hours of studying and lots of exams. That person will need to be understanding and work within her schedule. After she graduates, she may even want to open a practice and will need to figure where that would be as well. That is also something that she would need her partner to be understanding about (what if they need to move?). Could she just leave her practice, if it was successful? I don't understand what the issue is. Its clear that he was upfront that life would be in Austin.

As for Emily having a hard time watching the show, I am sure why everyone is surprised. Its human to not like to see someone you love kissing other people. Its twisted logic that its fine for Chantal to cry and whine all season when Brad hasn't even picked her because she "emotionally invested" and is in love with Brad but somehow Emily watching the show and having hard time is bad thing?!
Not every lead comes on the show with very inflexible ideas about where and how to live their life; Brad happened to be one who did, as did Jason. However, assuming that Ashley didn't apply for the show because of Brad, she probably assumes that she and her future partner will reach a compromise together as to these details. Obviously, Brad is not willing or in a position to do that, but I suspect that even if/when Ashley realized this upon getting to know him, she either chose to ignore it or thought that "everything" is negotiable, which is the way a lot of people think.

On her upcoming season, there is no reason to believe that as the lead, she will expect her chosen one to "fit into her life". Trista fit into Ryan's, Jill fit into Ed's, or tried, Ali and Roberto reached a compromise. Yes, Ashley needs to finish her schooling, but after that she is free to go wherever to open her practice (everybody has teeth, after all), and it seems that she is looking for a guy who also has some flexibility so that they can choose a place that is appealing for both of them.

So true. I think Ashley would subscribe to the view expressed by Reid to Jillian, which was, to paraphrase, first you become a team, than you figure it out together. Different people have different situations and approaches, that's all.

Thanks so much for all your posts. We had a question on here last night about when the AFRC is being taped. Someone said Brad was in Austin this weekend, so it has to be next weekend. Do you know when it is being taped. Thanks so much.

ITA with all of your comments ironcat! I believe Ashley wants the big pay day from ABC for being the next Bachelorette. Just think of all of her school loans. A nice piece of change from ABC would definitely eliminate some of her school debt. I personally don't want Ashley to be the next Bachelorette because she does need to complete her schooling!

I don't understand where people are getting this rigidity from Brad to compromise... where has he talked about this "how to live life" that you are ascribing to him? I know the "where" and it makes sense to me. Brad is a grown man of 38 (not 28) and has established roots in Austin, he wants to build a life with someone there much like Ryan and Trista did in Vail.

I would also remind people that although it didn't work Jen moved to San Francisco for Andrew because of his business, so it no unprecedented. Yes, Jason switched to Molly but guess what, even after all the talk about picking Melissa because she "fit", Molly too had to move to Seattle if she wanted to be with Jason. So what is the difference?

Certain criteria is, I think, one luxury every lead is allowed to have. I seem to recall Trista having an issue and fighting with one particular suitor because he owned a horse farm and she said she couldn't live there because of her allergies and he was pissed. Its her prerogative and this is Brads. He's not holding them at gunpoint...they have something called "free will" and can say "No, Thank you."

thats just the point..when you are involved in a realtionship you have to have some sort of inflexability and be willing to compromise...we have seen Chantel have real emotions on the show...and he called it a rollar coaster ride all the ups and downs and highs and lows...IMO thats real life..in compared to Emily's edit..we saw none of this..but Emily is a real person and I am sure she has real emotions especially if you listen to how Brad refers to her now..not answering the phone and how she is constantly needing reassurance..IMO thats real life too..but he was so critical of Chantel having those feelings...I worry if he can deal with Emily having them in the long run...

Brad choosing Emily will floor my unspoiled co-workers. They have had Chantal thrown at them, and they fell for it...although---in their heart of hearts love Emily.
