This has probably been discussed elsewhere on this board but has anybody else noticed how particularly bad the grammar has been this season?

Last night's specialty was:

"This date is going to bring Brad and I's relationship to a new level."

In previous episodes I have heard similar quotes from more than one lady and Brad too.

Anyone who has completeted 4th grade English knows this is grammatically incorrect.

The correct way to say it is:

"This date is going to bring I and Brad's relationship to a new level."

Ummm.... I don't think the latter is correct either.
You may get away with that at 4th grade English but Are you smarter than a 5th grader? lol

That's exactly how I read that comment. It was a way of reassuring Chantal and her family that their visit was on a different level for him. It was obvious that there was no way he was about to ask for Shawntell's hand in marriage so that was def. the unsolicited blessing, as was Ashley's father's vote of confidence. It was obvious when Brad walked into the wine cellar (or heaven....but I digress), and he said "uh oh" that they were about to have a serious chat. Obvious editing- but the result he was looking for, I'm sure.

"This date is going to bring Brad's and my relationship to a new level."

You can tell this is correct because if you take out the 'Brad's and' the 'my' is grammatically correct. HTH

Isn't it odd that so many of them make the same grammatical mistakes over and over? And these are not common mistakes either. For example, you never hear them say "don't" in place of "doesn't" " or "ain't" in place of "isn't", both of which are common grammatical errors.

I noticed that the grammatical errors seem to come when the people are either talking directly to the camera or giving a narration (not when they are talking to each other). Those statements and narrations are the most likely to be "scripted" for them. So this means either that the mistakes are intentional to make the statements seem more real or the script writer is a total moron!

I'm going to be unkind here and say that the script writers need a writing class

Anyway, I think that there was a blooper of Deanna struggling with grammar and the producers helping her say it "correctly," which was totally incorrect. I'd not put it past them that if the lead is having a hard time with the proper grammar they suggest an error. LOL.

ABC had a thread a few seasons ago where all the grammatical errors were cataloged. When viewed as a unit, it seemed unlikely that the show was NOT making an effort in that direction of ignorance. LOL.

In the case of the "her and me" used as a compound subject, the errors happened so frequently season after season that we joked that the producers actually had a hand in the contestants incorrectly using the phrase. How could so many college graduates make the same error over and over again? It really didn't quite make sense otherwise.
We thought the producers were in their way spoofing.

But that's okay because it will help me's grammar improve.

I agree.... Having an agent and wanting to be famous doesn't make anyone the devil. It's not a surprising accusation for this show...heck RS is accusing Chantal of the same thing! No skin off my back either way.

Look at Jillian ... Going all extreme makeover and stuff... What a cutie!

I guess anything could be true...but its just hard for me to swallow that Emily is this type of person...and I don't see the Hendrick's sitting back and letting her pimp her dauthter out so she could be on a tv show..they seem to do a lot for both Rikki and Emily...I am sure they provide the house for them to live in
