So Bloomers how does Chantal's RC positions compare to Vienna's when you look at the season as a whole? I know before you were comparing Chantal's positions to Roberto's but if her edit is more like Vienna then it would be interesting to see if there is a pattern throughout the Jake season episodes. No?

    1. “I’m hoping and praying that I have the change to at least meet her daughter”

    21. “So the awkwardness goes out the window”

Section 2 (These are things we see Brad say while dressed in the clothes he wore on the date with Emily; however, he does not identify by name who he is talking about)

    1. “My god kissing this woman is so perfect”

Section 3 (These are things Brad says that we know are about Emily because he identifies her by name; however, we do not see him physically say them and don’t know for sure when they were said)

    1. “I cannot wait to see Emily”
    2. “I’m rock solid with where I stand with Emily”
    3. “I know this is a big step for Emily, meeting her little daughter”
    4. “I love the fact that little Ricki is in Emily’s life”

    6. “Sitting here playing board games with Emily and her daughter”

    8. “I should of kissed Emily, no doubt about it, I should have”

** “Kids usually do like me, but I don’t want to force the little girl into liking me” (also putting this here because he can only be talking about Ricki)

Section 4 (these are the things we actually see Brad say about Emily and their date).

    1. “I realize it’s a huge step for Emily to even just allow me to meet her daughter”
    2. “I very well could be little Ricki’s step father”

    3. “I know she’s shy, it’s an awkward situation, we all know that”
    4. “Today is going to be an extremely eye opening experience”
    5. “I’m seeing a little bit, slowly but surely, Ricki opening up”
    6. “A family setting and I felt so comfortable”
    7. “The first time little Ricki laughed, just so cute”
    8. “I would welcome and cherish the opportunity to be a father figure to little ricki”
    9. “Image of what I want my life to be”
    10. “Emily has a beautiful little girl”
    11. “This is a family”
    12. “But I just met her daughter”
    13. “I don’t know if she’s going to come downstairs”

So what does all this mean? I’m not sure. But, I am starting to form some personal opinions now based on the analysis only. Much of what was said on Brad and Emily’s date is located in section 1, meaning we don’t know when they were said or who he was talking about. He is dressed in his clothes from his date with Emily when he says ““My god kissing this woman is so perfect,” but he doesn’t identify for sure that he is talking about Emily. Even if he is, doesn’t indicate to me anything other than he likes kissing her. The statements in section 3 and 4, which I consider the most important, don’t really tell me anything about Brad’s feelings for Emily; however, they do tell me lots about Emily and her daughter. As for the future of this relationship, it tells me only one thing and that is that Brad could be a step father after this. On the contrary, not so much located in section 1 for Chantal, and nothing at all in section 2. The majority of the date interactions are located in sections 3 and 4, again what I consider the most important. The interactions here tell me that he “fell for Chantal the very first night.” They tell me how he’s feeling ie that he loves “[loves] to see the old Chantal again” and that he’s “nervous.” And, they tell me he is thinking about the future ie “potential son in law,” and “were going to be spending countless holiday with her family.”

Based on this analysis only, I’m starting to lean towards Chantal. Doesn’t mean I can’t lean back, so I’m looking forward to next week.

    Cheers!
Thanks for doing this....my assessment of this is that a good portion of section 3 and 4 are comments are about Chantal's father and Boca (though I don't blame him, that damn dog stole the show for me! ) and not Chantal herself. There are two quotes about discovering the old Chantal but I don't see much reflection about a future with her. In fact, the biggest reflection on the future "wedding" came from Daddy O and not Brad. Emily's section 3 and 4 are about his feeling for her and/or her daughter and seeing a future together and a family.

An interesting exercise would be to do this for Ashley and see whose profile it falls more in line with. Perhaps that's a project I can give myself tonight.

I am finding a mish mash of evidence as far as edit goes, and not necessarily a pattern like it used to be. To add to this post, it was Jakes season, that Vienna's HTD was shown last.

I was looking for something, and came across this from Ali's season, that was posted in a blog after HTD's

The family goes bonkers when she tells them he's from Cape Cod, which is hilarious. As someone from a small state, I can definitely say my family would have the same reaction if I had a guy and was like, "He's from Iowa!" Squeals all around.

It turns out Chris has all these connections to Ali's family -- moms both nurses, Chris taught high school math and Ali's dad and sister have been/are teachers. He seems to fit right in, more so than Roberto did. Just me getting that feeling?
I don't think I can post the link, but its zap it.

This reminded me very much of the conversation Brad had with Mr O'Brien.

ETA: Emily was in Roberto's spot last night at the RC.

I will say this tho. I am definitely one of those people that falls victim to the edit. I watch the show and feel exactly how MF wants a viewer to feel. I watched Emily's HTD last night 3 times because I thought it was so cute and then I come on here and you people ruin it for me... RUINED!
I could have written this! Except I was leaning toward Chantal and now I'm seeing something with Emily.

ONLY, 2 weeks earlier he'd spent A LOT of time with Emily - to the point it made Chantal and Alli cry because they didn't feel special. I'm surprised Chantal didn't call him out on that or at least wonder to herself...

Brad has already given the reasons why he won't pick Chantal in the end -(1) he asked her in Las Vegas to stop giving him such a hard time and so much crap and she made an excuse as her reason for doing it. Then she turned around 2 weeks later and upped the ante with a worse tantrum. That's got to be putting lots of questions in his mind, esp. after having the "perfect, phenomenal" date with Emily a couple of days earlier...

    (2) When Michelle was pulling away, Brad says, "I have an intense physical attraction to her but that would've worn off and then her intensity and the way we kept butting heads a little bit, that would've become a volatile relationship very quickly."

That sentence could very well be applied to Chantal as well...

Sorry that's not true - Ali completely disengaged after her Portugal date with Roberto.
He looked completely disengaged from everyone but Emily last night.

Are we putting people into certain RC lineups and edits to fit our theory or are those trends/patterns actually what is happening?

If we're going to pick a season as the one being replayed this season, we need to stick with it. Is it Ali's or Jake's?

If Chantal has lined up every week to date with Roberto's RC lineup during Ali's season, then wasn't Emily in Roberto's spot yesterday?

Also, what is the order of the FDs? Chantal, Emily, Ashley. Isn't that the same as Ali's, Chris, Roberto, Frank?

Jake made the remark that he didn't know who his F1 was until pretty well in the season. At the time, I tended to dismiss that because when I lay it out, all the rest of them give the producers their projected F4 that first night like we have been told. Sometimes it changes, especially when people bolt like Graham did on DeAnna, but most of the time it appears to stay pretty consistent. ( I highly suspect that Jake was supposed to have been in Jillian's original F4, but she didn't cotton to him, and Reid took his place.)

Jake's season as opposed to the other seasons was very difficult to figure out from the group and RC pics. Because of that, I think he couldn't make up his mind, but I am thinking that originally Ali was supposed to perhaps be F2 ( as opposed to the F4 she ended), and that is why he couldn't give her the assurance she needed to stay on and quit her job.

However, if you view that HT RC as the final positions in which the girls ended, Ali is F4 and that is where Shawntel is standing, Vienna F1 is where Chantal is standing, Gia is F3 where Ashley is standing, and Tenley is F2 where Emily is standing.
Of all the things in the world I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

OK..that makes sense about Jake being unable to decide.

I found it very revealing when CH asked Brad if he would regret giving Ashley a rose because she has not said she's fallen for him. Brad responded by saying no and explained that he's basing his decisions based on how he feels - not how the women feel. So even though Emily may not be in the same place he's in, he'll continue to give her a rose.

And Brad told each of the women tonight he would miss them as he said goodbye - all but one. The only one he did not say "I'll miss you" to is Emily because he does not intend to say goodbye to her. Emily was the only one who did not escort Brad out to his car and watch him drive off.
Yes he has stessed about how he feels. Yep he told them all but Emily and we didn't get to see him leave. We saw the others.
We didn't get to see Brad ask Chantal dad, permission to ask for her hand in marriage, because he won't be asking her.

I think most of the leads say they knew who their F1 was very early on. Maybe they did, but it is also safer to say that than risk hurting the feelings of or pissing off their intended by implying they were seriously considering choosing another. I remember how Jason changed his tune from, "Yay, I'm engaged to the most wonderful woman!" to "I fell in love with two different women", which coincided with him planning to make the switch from Melissa to Molly in real life. In Jake's case, since we now know he really wasn't all that concerned about making things work with Vienna (if I recall correctly, he also commented early on that he didn't care if his F1 was all that attractive- ouch!), he had no problem playing up the conflicted angle for as long as possible, even if it bothered Vienna to do so.

On another note, as far as editing patterns, since every season has different people on them and the leads all have different tastes, I think that generally, the edit turns out to be a combination of past edits, as opposed to an exact duplicate of one past season. The producers seem to have developed a bag of (stale)tricks over the years, and pull/snip different things from it based on what they have to work with on each season.
