Just putting two & two together here, but I'll bet there was more to his convo with his psychiatrist than we saw. The good doctor probably pointed out that Brad dealt with Chantal's feelings in a physical way, but not on an emotional level. I wonder if the doctor is going to be there throughout the process to tell Brad how to deal with all of Chantal's tears?

We get it. Brad and Chantal have a physical connection. The body wants what the body wants. Try to engage the mind a little more.

For as much as I'm hesitant to buy the in-your-face nature of this season (could it be this easy?), it's pretty darn hard NOT to note the tremendous chemistry between Brad and Chantal. If we were going by the old F2 Physical Chemistry edit, Chantal would be a shoe-in. I also like the way Just Looking put it

I love Emily, and I'm not totally sold on Chantal as F1, but regardless of my contestant preferences, I think we have to give credit where it's due: Chantal and Brad created fireworks on Monday.

Agreed. It was almost like Brad was making a point to share with Chantal that the physical isn't enough for him, though it's a LOT. He wants to be there for her emotionally. They kinda jumped over that into their physical affection.

    Very keen on Brad's part.

I agree, I can see the connection between Chantal and Brad but I'm not sold. I've been fooled by fireworks before, so I'm not allowing that to be my guide. What I noticed is that he kissed Emily differently than any of the others so far. They kept touching foreheads and almost speaking to each other in tenderness through their kisses. It was much less ravenous than with the others which set their kiss apart. This certainly wasn't because he didn't really want to kiss her, we've seen that when he doesn't want to kiss, he just doesn't no matter what signals the ladies send. It's as if his heart and mind are more engaged with Emily than with the others.
I also noticed that even though Emily told her tragic story, she wasn't pitiful and a crybaby about it so there was really no need to "comfort" her. There was just a need to let her know that he appreciated her opening up. Brad spent much of his time with the other ladies comforting and reassuring them, this can be very taxing for a man, and you have to think of who left the greatest deposit within him as opposed to withdrawals as he thought about them that night when he was alone.

I agree that he was apologizing for not being emotionally responsive to Chantal's outpouring. I found it interesting after reading Brad's blog that he related Chantal's regret back to his own life instead of feeling what she must have been going through. I can see why he did not feel the need to reassure her if he was focused on himself and he later had to apologize for it.

Chantal also told me about the passing of her father. This hit close to home because she waited too long to try to fix the broken relationship she had with her biological father. That conversation opened my eyes to many of my relationships especially the one with my father.
I wonder if being with someone who has the same issues as you do makes you less empathetic towards the other person's needs and makes you more self-centered and reflective about your own life rather than the other person's needs?

My own personal opinion would be that it is not the healthiest thing for a relationship to bond over tragedy. But someone with a little more expertise could maybe elaborate better. Where is the psych major, ef?

I just don't know if casting the women with the sob stories for Brad was very smart on TPTB's part.

No but she did call the girls a bunch of hyenas going after Brad. Thought that was funny.

It feels like one big therapy session.

I wouldn't be surprised if they put this group together to see if they can get Brad to cry.

    Re: Body Language Analysis

one question i have is about the pause during the last rose ceremony one-on-one between chantal and brad - not sure if there's been discussion about it but i'm confused if it looks like it's spliced and diced (maybe like an A&R splice dice) or if there really was a loooooong pause of them looking into each other's eyes... the reason i ask is the hand movements and the bent heads etc. in that sequence weren't exactly very smooth as if they didn't go in the order they were shown or there were things cut out in between...

on the other hand - it seemed at the end brad was looking at her and almost opened his mouth as if to say something but then held it back...(maintaining almost unblinking eye contact) - Chantal's head bent to the side in a sort of question and when michelle cleared her throat they both broke the eye contact as if they were caught in an intimate moment and looked down for a few seconds - not even really answering her question but then brad saying 'you enjoy your nite' --> neither of them responded to michelle the whole time but were focused on their connection till brad said 'bye' and let her hand go as he saw michelle infront of him...

Their hands were cletched very tightly together especially around the end and after he kissed her hand (which is a telling move because it was his way of showing her affection but maybe did not want to interrupt the conversation as they were saying it- as if he couldn't help himself) ... anyone else have a take on this?

the body language appears that chantal and brad have passed several touch barriers...emily and brad have a very intense and emotional connection from all the forehead touching and the kiss but both were shy/cautious (prolly southern bell/gentleman reaction)

I don't have a favorite at this point - i want to wait and see the chantal date first...
