I am grateful that I've missed the pervie comments by Nigel (since I can't watch, due to Mary being there). And even if she wasn't there, it's 50-50 whether I could watch it, due to wondering where the heck Nigel ever came from to command a judge position in the first place.

I have seen some posts here and there about MM's supposed choreography expertise, but I am very skeptical. Show me her background...anyone? Never heard of her until this show (which I used to like).

OMG, if this show gets rid of her, I may be able to watch it again.

I actually don't mind him on screen, although I do in a round-about way kind of blame him for some of the stupider reality show conventions introduced on Idol (and now this show), since as the producer he made a lot of those decisions.

Well, we can try Google.

First up, her own exercise in self promotion, including a bio no doubt written by her publicity people.

The description of her dancing career there makes her sound like she competed well for a few years, but it doesn't really paint her as any kind of overwhelming star of the dance circuit.

In terms of her non-competitive career, it mostly talks about her having a school, and being a dance double for Julia Roberts.

Wikipedia has pretty much the same information on her.

Really, in the end, she's mostly famous for being on this show, and having a big mouth.

"Should have heard of him"...according to whom?

Is he important to world events? Nope. But simply in terms of money, revenues generated by his shows, and such, its a big chunk of change. He's probably just as successful as Mark Burnett, if you've heard of him. Maybe even more these days, since Burnett has never really been able to duplicate the iconic (and big money making) success of "Survivor", and Nigel Lythgoe's been able to crank out both "American Idol" and now this silly dance show and have them both be pretty universal water-cooler discussed shows by most of a nation.

Again, that gives him a pretty small impact on the real world, but he's clearly a guy with a ton of influence if we are speaking about TV, and the barrels full of money that can be made there.

TY for the research. But really, she is a nobody, and yeah, her mouth is way too loud. Way too insufferably loud (LOL).

UGH, maybe I need to go find some other so-called celebrities who are getting way too much press and/or airtime, and crab about them? Or I can watch SYTICD with the audio muted, but then I have to turn off the visual (to bleep out Mary), and then...there's no dancing that I can experience.

Is anybody getting this (i.e., the producers?). Surely I can't be the only viewer who has tuned out because of Mary???? (I know I'm not, other people have told me, ditto)

Despite what most of the world thinks, it's not just about money.

Yeah, he and Trump and others are laughing their way to the bank, but some of us want quality entertainment, and then there's what happens when they get to the golden gates, IYKWIM.

That is a positive slant on it. TY! Although I don't understand how someone can be idealistic and not be jaded, in this cold hard (real) world.

Maybe it's a matter of positive thinking (which I used to be better at)? Or maybe you are saying it's a matter of choice (which is perhaps the same thing).

The cacklefest has to be stopped. Not to mention the scary wardrobe, the cupping her hands around her mouth to yell (Dang, Mary ... we can hear you already!). And as someone pointed out elsewhere, her speech patterns need serious help. "I really liked that!!!" is one thing. "Did I like that? Did I? Well Yes I Did!!! Yes I Did!!!" It's not about you, idiot.

She's even more unbearable when she DIDN'T like a routine.

The grandfather of my friend actually had Mary as his ballroom instructor. He said she was a very nice lady, but very strict and NEVER was even CLOSE to how she acts on the show. She was a reserved woman from what he described, and he once called her quiet!

I rather like Mary. She seems to be genuinely invested in the contestants, wanting them to grow as dancers (as cliche as that sounds). Plus, she knows her stuff - she's been in competitions, she's trained - the dancers have a lot they could learn from her.

My only wish is that she wasn't a PERMANENT judge on the panel (with Nigel) - because we need to see some Mary Murphy choreography! Anyone remember the Travis/Heidi Paso Doble in Season 2? How dramatic and awesome was that! I wouldn't mind mixing up the judges a bit more, too... having one consistent one (Nigel) is fine, but rotate the other two... bring back Jean-Marc, Adam Shankman, Wade Robson, Tabitha & Napoleon more often.
