    Yep, that's why he's popular.

I tend to believe Billy here in facebook. My issue is I can't warm to him even though I think he is a very talented dancer. It's my perception that he is detached not only from the audience but also from the rest of the dancers. At the end of the episode when all the contestants were dancing, he was alone or separated from the group for the most part. It was only towards the end when Lauren began to dance with him that I saw him join the group. I felt sad for Billy watching that part--he looked quite alone in the beginning of that segment.

    Billy's quote:

I would like to make it clear I did not “cop out” of the competition. I was in pain therefore did not want to risk injuring myself completely. Sometimes prevention is better than just “fighting through it” until you are actually injured. I believe I made a smart decision and I have no regrets. Sometimes you have to sit back and think about what could happen to you after the show as well guys…

Thank you to all of those who support me and I’m sorry if you believe I’m a “coward” but I don’t. I’m very happy and thrilled to be here next week. Can’t wait to bring it to the stage. Get ready america.
I respect his opinion and choice - HOWEVER, this is the thing that bugs me though:

This I do not know if it was his choice or the producers to say, but it'd boded much well to people such as us who feel that he "coped out" if they said during the performance night that he had an injury and though he was cleared to perform, chose not to perform because he didn't want to further injure himself.

That's the clincher - they should've said he was cleared but wasn't sure of possibly harming himself further chose to not risk injury and take the automatic bottom three.

I think more people would've respected the decision more and not feel like a lot of us do, especially since I feel the judges were going to give him another chance anyway.

By things happening the way they did however, Billy has pretty much set himself up for either proving he needed the rest and give the best performance of his life or he'll pretty much be a shoe-in for the bottom three. I'm hoping that Ade has the votes to stay in the safe zone and again the bottom three are Robert, Jose and Billy. I think that Billy and Jose have plateaued and Robert is a bit odd right now.

    >>>>>>>>>>

BTW, I know he feels picked on but the tone of his comment on the Facebook page will NOT endear himself to voters, especially" the last point of "Sometimes you have to sit back and think about what could happen to you after the show as well guys…"

This last sentence to me reads as though we are stupid to have the reaction we did to his decision. Again, we can see why he chose to do that, but IMHO his decision not only affected him but the rest of the cast, because there is a chance that a stronger dancer ends up in the bottom three and possibly eliminated. If it's Ade, he will be ousted along with quite probably Jose. And, this is even if Billy is in the bottom three for a third or fourth time. So yeah... comments with a tone like this won't help him out much.

I agree this has been his "thorn" from the get go. He gives off the attitude that he is "better than" this show, that this format his somehow beneath his talents and abilities. I agree that he needs to give the performance of a lifetime or it will be bye bye billy!

On the plus side - Nigel has been dropping hints he thinks that it should be Ade, Lauren and Kent in the final three. Hopefully people will listen to him because I'd be happy with any of them winning, and if Robert made it I wouldn't mind as much as Jose or definitely Billy.

I do know that Ade in particular will be dancing full out in order to stay in the final four. And I think he can do it - providing Mia doesn't try to verbally sabotage him again. Even there though I think he can do a at her and show that the words aren't going to factor into his dancing again.

One thing I think people tend to overlook about Billy's injury is when he talks about his 'doctors.' I think most might think of family doctors or even specialist. My daughter is a competitive gymnast. It's not the same, but the wear-and-tear on the body can be similar between the disciplines. These are specialized doctors in specific areas of sports medicine. My family doctor wouldn't even look at my daughter's ankle. We had to go to a person who specialized in foot/legs in sports medicine. So if a doctor cleared him, or two as I'm sure there is one more opinion in play, these are people who know the field. I'm not saying Billy was wrong, but I'm saying these are VERY specialized doctors, probably dealing with only dancers/gymnasts.

One other thing on the injuries, in my experience most of our team's broken bones occurred on simple moves. Why? Complacence. Gymnasts (much like the dancers) will focus on the more complicated moves and just use muscle memory to make it through common things. So while our girls would throw the 'big tricks' without incident, it was the simple things they injured themselves on. In three years, we've had three broken bones on things that kids might do on a school playground – one was jumping to the highbar, one was doing a turn on the beam, and one was doing a cartwheel.

Also I think it's not necessarily just the routines that should be looked, but also the new stage could be suspect.

This is just my opinion, but I feel Billy has given up on the show, and he might have been expecting to be let go, like the two previous contestants who were injured. If that is the case (and it is a big if), who could blame him reading the comments from people here and the fact he repeatedly ends up in the bottom three even though he is a great dancer? Why should he keep trying when people have already decided he is arrogant and detached? This is what I hate about the format of these shows, real talent (not a nice smile, a moving story or some other ineffable connection with the public) gets dismissed so easily. The better dancer has gotten the shaft in this show since season two: Travis, Danny, Katee, Brandon, Jakob. Of course, it is America's favorite dancer. I just wish America tried to reward real accomplishments more often. Just my opinion.

Personally I don't see where Billy is a better dancer than some of the others. Alex was amazing. Ade is amazing. Kent is amazing. Lauren is amazing. The biggest difference I have seen in those dancers including Billy? Billy has a problem with the partner work. The others don't. So while Billy may be an amazing dancer he is not any better than some of the others, IMO.

I love this. And agree, totally. Good insight.

I respect your opinion and am glad you're standing up for it.

Now, here's my perspective - I've never liked Billy's dancing, and it's not the "arrogance and detachment" as much as that I just don't like the way he dances. I can't put my finger on it, but when I see his dancing, I just don't have the "wow" factor, or the "I want to see that dance again" coming from him.

With Alex - I saw those gorgeous leaps and wanted to see them again and again. Sadly that may be what hurt him in the end, but I've not seen leaps like his since say the likes of Suria Bonayli (Sp) or Paul Wylie in figure skating - high and beautiful.

With Kent I see him taking risks and having fun with it. That said I DO get tired of his constant mugging for the cameras. (The looking around bit was annoying, but I have wondered if he saw something and was distracted. He does need to be careful though because Mia tends to be a tad too emotional to any weird reaction).

Lauren - I see her also taking chances and risks. I do think out of her and Kent she's done a better job in the "curveball" dance (Tahitian dance), but I enjoy her dancing. (Plus, she kept going after a wardrobe malfunction).

Ade - I see great leaps and movements in his dancing that make me wonder what he's going to do next. I do wish he and Alex danced the Bollywood together, because I think both would've brought the best out of each other and we'd had probably the best Bollywood they've had. And - I'd like to have seen THEM do a paso doble against each other instead of Jose vs. Ade (which I feel Ade was pulled down due to Jose's inexperience).

With Robert - goofyness, and I have to admit, he needs to step it up because I don't see anything that draws me in anymore.

    Jose? - Same thing.

In all honesty - NONE of the dances I've seen that I've truly enjoyed have come from him. Out of those I've seen this season, I think all of Alex's, two of Kent's (the stomp - though I will concede Legacy helped out here, and the baseball one), three of AdeChike's (Hip hop last week, Bollywood and the contemporary with Kent) and two of Lauren's (the one hip hop she did and the Tahitian) I'd like to see again. They stick in my head.

Billy - I remember the Cats one, but not in a good way, and with Jose... I remember how weak he was in the duo Paso Doble compared to Ade.

Talent wise - I think the strongest left who are giving a damn are Kent, Lauren, and Ade, with Robert in lesser degrees. I see Jose starting to give up and Billy give up.

And IMHO, Billy is giving up and not working harder. I think that's what is hurting him. He was given this great chance to return this week when a lot of people (and I will admit myself) believe he should've been DQ'd when he sat out in spite of being cleared to dance, he will have to prove that he deserved that chance.

This week, I think will be either his greatest triumph or major disaster. It all depends on how he takes the second chance he received. This goes especially true when Nigel called him out on the case the doctors clearing him for dancing last week (regardless if it was or wasn't the right decision from our POV for Billy to make on his own accord).
