Kevin & Karen – Broadway – Spencer Liff to If They Could See Me Now

They struggled in the video package, and in the dance - I have to agree with Spencer - this was not that difficult a routine. Kinda not very impressive. Cat is complimenting Shirley McLaine in the movie - so I think she is searching to say something positive.

Nigel: Karen didn't bring the humor to the character. But she did better than Kevin. A disappointment.
Mary: Needed to be more, but it was nice and safe. Karen was better. Kevin's shoulders were too high and no in between transitions.
Adam: Props to Spencer for variety of movement. Liked Karen's character, though.

Hope not too many friends saw this routine. Nice try, though.
    Weird choreography.

I love Karen, but not this routine. I hope she will not be in danger tonight.

Russell & Noelle – Fox Trot – Eddie Simon

Again? Really? But props for bringing in another new choreographer. The dance: this is weird music for a fox trot. I am not liking this at all. And I really enjoyed Russell's first FT with Melanie. But there is no flow to this at all. It's hard to say how much is choreography and what's poor execution. I don't think Eddie is asking a lot from them.

Nigel: Russell has improved so much in two weeks. Noelle fighting to get out there and doing that.
Mary: Russell so good; made it look easy. Improve on the promenade positions, but overall great. Noelle - correct footwork and tracking excellent. So proud of what they have done.
Adam: So much joy! They stepped up to the dreaded FT and nailed it!

Another fox trot not fair to Russell.
Noelle is simply not that impressive a dancer.

Russell outshines Noelle, even in the foxtrot. He made that look effortless.

Victor & Channing – Jazz – Tyce Diorio to Blackbird

These two are gone, unless they are spectacular this week. Can they take the challenge? Well, I think they did pretty well. I love this with the Bobby McFerrin music. So unexpected. Wonderful moves. I want to see this again.

Nigel: Channing looked like she was enjoying her performance. She let it go - "out of the cage". Victor, you have really matured as a person. As a dancer you are not growing as fast as some of the others.
Mary: Loved it! Such a fun piece. Victor, very consistent. But need to dig deeper. Channing's been great and strong, but you let it go in the character.
Adam: Channing, you are beautiful. The McFerrin version of the song was a bit alien and made it hard to connect.

Wow, this routine is doing Victor and Channing no favors at all. That was strange and seemed more like gymnastics than dance.

Also? Disliking Tyce more and more.

I thought the piece lagged and lacked focus.

    Tyce thinks highly of himself.
