    Re: 7/30 Show Discussion Thread**SPOILERS**

I think this F4 isn't too much of a surprise to anyone. Although I would have preferred J&J for the girls, I have to admit, Kayla has been better the last few weeks. Never will be a favorite of mine but oh well.

Brandon probably should win based on pure performance and versatility. Jeanine is right behind him (although her solos have not impressed lately). I just plain like Jeanine - she's very good and I like her personality.

Evan, well I've said it many times, he's a cutie and I love him in his style. He's improved quite a bit (def held his own in the guy's dance) but still not completely there.

Kayla has had this season handed to her (judges raving over her, cute shots of the grandparents multiple times, inordinate number of dances in or close to her style)...it will be interesting to see where the voters put her. Yes, the talent is there, but she does nothing for me emotionally.

To put Ade in some perspective - think of Joshua. Power and strength galore, but he was versatile and owned every dance he was given. To me, Ade always looked a bit unsure when he was out of his style and/or not with Melissa.

Very nice analysis. The choreography really dictates what is going to happen to the dancers. If the choreo sucks, chances are you'll be in the bottom. If the choreo happens to be emotional and memorable and good choreo (cough, the cancer one which was totally unfair for anyone to have), then they're in the top.
While I agree that choreography can make a big difference, I would not call a good routine "unfair" to the other couples. The pair given the good routine still has to execute it. I have seen routines on this show that I thought would have been outstanding if another pair had performed it, but that just fell flat for the couple that happened to get the assignment. Yes, Melissa and Ade got lucky getting the cancer routine, but I also think it is unlikely that any other couple would have performed it as well as they did. I am not a Melissa fan, but I still have to give her kudos for that performance!

ETA - Thx to the posters who answered my question about the Mercy routine. For some reason something just seemed a bit different about it.

ETA2 - After seeing so many posts about how great Evan was in the guys True Romance routine on Wed night, I decided to go back and watch it again. I have to stick with my original opinion on this one. While Evan held his own, I do not think he was at that level Brandon and Ade were. He had some wobbly landings that they stuck cold, he lost his balance on the move where he jumped up on their backs, and there were places where the synchronicity between Brandon and Ade was spot on but Evan was just a tad off.

We thought Melissa and Kayla should have been the two girls who stayed. This was disappointing.

He really was great there. As much as I like both Brandon and Ade, I don't get why people would just go on saying good stuff about them (especially Brandon) when at some point, even just a little, they did make error in their dance and just focus on their awesomeness. They praised Brandon way too much, which I found really annoying. I started off favoring him... but now, not so much.

Evan lost his balance when he got up Ade's and Brandon's back? Yeah, I did notice that, but for me, that's not really a big deal. He was standing on a not-so-solid surface. I do think that they all are moving in sync and just not in one or two parts, though it's not always Evan who was a bit off. There's one where Ade was off a bit when he was at the back (from the camera's angle). Those didn't bother me much. Evan's not-so-perfect landings and hit... well -- I think he's doing way better than I expect him to, and if I remember Lil C's as well. Evan is a broadway dancer, while the other two are both Contemporary dancers. So, yeah... I agree with what Lil C said. Evan did way better than he's expected to. lol

The part where I found myself saying "Darn!!" (not because I was impressed, more like a bit disappointed) was when the guys are doing the standing back flip. Brandon lost his balance and it's VERY noticeable (you can hardly missed his hand movement there when he stumbled), plus he's standing right at front. I don't think the move is supposed to be like that. Dancers rarely lose balance like that when they're on a hard ground. In fact, I never really seen that which is why I'm kinda surprise to see that coming from Brandon. lol. He knew how to covered it though. lol. Evan and Ade also stumbled a bit, but just a bit and not that noticeable. I was actually waiting to see if any of the judges would comment on that small error, but I knew they won't say anything cause, well... it really seems to me that they're too blind to see the error when they only focus on his awesomeness, which I found really unfair. Don't get me wrong. I love Brandon. I just don't find him perfect with his routines all the time, and I always find myself rolling my eyes when I see his not-so-perfect moves being overly praised when others actually achieved that.

I am so happy that Jeanine stayed over Melissa. I think many fans were split between Jeanine and Janette, to me I liked them equally, so when Janette left perhaps her votes went to Jeanine? Melissa is talented, but i feel more emotion from Jeanine.

I started to warm up to Kayla once she was partnered with Jason, before that she did well but exuded no emotion for me, just beautiful lines and doing the steps/jumps accurately.

Brandon, though, is my overall favorite. I'd love to have someone so maligned by one of the haughty judges (Mia), someone trying to keep him OUT of the top 20 win - this season would not have been the same without him - he can do everything well!

Brandon's solo WAS the best solo I've seen on any season - included so much, and I for one wanted it to be much longer.

Katee and Twitch were the orginal two who danced to Mercy. Kherrington filled in at times on the tour. If you check youtube you can find the original segment from the show where they pull in out the the hat and then you see Katee and Twitch rehearse the number with Mia.

NFL1. I do agree with you there. Brandon's solo was really amazing. He has the most wonderful lines.

Think Brandon or Kayla's going to win. Evan in the final 4, that was a surprise.

I didn't like the opening number simply because I hate that song. I didn't even watch it - sorry Tyce. I am sure the choreography was good. Seeing the Mercy and Bleeding Love routines, I have to say what I have felt this whole season, last season was better. There was infinitely more personality in the dancers from last season. This has kind of been a let down this season for me. Hopefully fall's dancer's will bring more of their personality to the dances.

I wish they'd included a Katee/Joshua routine! What about their Bollywood number? That was amazing! Maybe they'll get some airtime next week. It would also be cool if they did a group number with all of the winners from the past seasons in it. I'd also love to see some Tranji love!

I don't really get the Kayla hate either. Not only do I find her to be a beautiful performer, but she is my pick for the F1 next week.
