Kayla Solo to You Found Me by the Fray
Nice interpretive routine by Kayla. Not a lot of technical moves, though.

Maybe the costume has something to do with it, but Kayla's solo tonight looks a lot like a mere channeling of her solo from last week.

    JMHO.

An H-O-T samba, according to Louis. Jeanine is rocking the samba, but Ade looks a little wild to me, particularly in the feet.

Judges: Mary liked the first 15 seconds (!) but thought Ade looked like a novice. Lil C thought Jeanine looked amazing. He was hopeful about the partnership but it didn't meet expectations. Nigel thought Jeanine looked beautiful and did everything with confidence. He gave props to Louis as one of the great Latin choreographers.
Too bad that Lil C and Mary were so busy ripping on Ade that they didn't bother to comment on how Jeanine danced the routine . At least Nigel mentioned that fact.

BTW, SYTYCD Season Six premieres right before Glee on September 9.

I know! I thought Mary was going there next, but she passed it over to Lil C without commenting on Jeanine. Who did great, IMHO.

Evan/Melissa - Broadway by Tyce to Get Me To The Church On Tme from My Fair Lady
Tons o' fun, says Tyce. This is do or die for E. - if he can't excel at this he's toast. And he does - talk about a tailor made number. Melissa dances fine, but completely disappears - lost in E.'s pizazz.

Judges: Lil C is disappointed in Evan (?) - it was good but not excellent. Mary says it's "get me to the finale on time". Fun and entertaining. Nigel says Melissa has inspired a lot of ballet girls - but they can't adapt like Melissa. Nigel thought Evan DID bring personality to the routine.

This routine is right up Evan's alley! I don't think that his partner was a match for him on this one. Good for you, Evan!

    <-- inwardly grumbling

Finally. Evan gets his chance at real Broadway.

And they put them in barefeet.

I don't care WHAT kind of dance it is - if it's NOT contemporary/lyrical, it's not going to look hard-hitting without freaking SHOES.

I'm disappointed. It could have rocked. It was just OK for me. And it pains me to say that.

Good dancing by Melissa and Evan.

    Good choreography by Tyce.

    BUT . . .

This is SO what Evan does --- SO his patented style of dancing --- that I've GOT to wonder how they would've come out if they'd done, say a tango, or something that was not so his style.
