"You oust dancers who didn't deserve to go. You keep ones who should have been sent packing. You do a last minute switch-a-roo and say nobody is going home."

    >>>>>>>>>>>

I see the first two points, but the third in this case I have to disagree with.

IMHO, the ONLY reason they did a non-elimination round the first round was because I think they felt Mitchell was very good, but felt it wasn't right to keep him - who had to dance for his life because he couldn't dance with his partner night one - over someone who did do the couple dance.

While I understand it, I did find it sad that it did keep a couple safe this week who most likely would've been in danger of going home last week and kicked out at least one deserving couple (My opinion Nick and Ivetta, but I also liked Wadi and Missy's first number).

I also thought it odd that Ryan was supposedly doing a steamy dance with someone, but was grinning the whole time and making no eye contact with him at all. I think maybe the judges recognize that if they keep Ryan on the stage, they can keep Mia off of the judging panel.

I didn't watch the whole results show (thanks to your comments which are so helpful to those of us further west), so I didn't see the little girls everyone has mentioned. However, I've seen a few minutes (all that was necessary) of Toddlers & Tiaras and feel like that show is produced for the enjoyment of stage mothers and pedophiles. No way I would ever let my child perform so erotically at the age of 5 or 6. (Or, as she is now, at 44 - LOL.) Do these people have NO common sense?

    You're not the only one.

I don't necessarily buy the conspiracy elimination theory. It would have made more sense to do like AI and eliminate somebody popular farther into the season. Right now, many people (including me) have trouble remembering who the dancers are and what they did the night before. Once you whittle down a few contestants, though, and casual fans form their attachments, that's when elinination controversy happens. It can backfire, however: I was so ticked off when James Durbin was eliminated from AI that I didn't bother to watch the final two episodes.

I don't mind Iveta being gone. She looked too old and her dances weren't that great. As somebody said here, even her DFYL was basically just a shimmy. I simply wish they had sent Ryan packing with her.

jadewarlock I thought the same thing at first, that they only did the nobody goes home because they wanted to give Mitchell a second chance. But then it was pointed out to me that no way would Nigel (the ultimate puppet master and self-admitted control freak) allow something so unplanned to occur. Now I believe that he knew dang well going into that show that he wasn't going to send anybody home. Heck, he may very well have made that decision as soon as Mitchell was hurt. Remember? Flagging ratings, have to do something...anything....to shore them up again.

Fanny Mare Funny about the dance forum, all the ones I visit where supportive of her. Since she does hold that title, you know. And where are the comments about botox coming from? She is a woman in her early 30's, of course she isn't wrinkled. I am in my early 40's and there isn't a wrinkle or gray hair in sight. Sometimes people are blessed with good genes. Yes, she does at times look much older than 30's but I blame that nasty spray tan. Catch her with a more natural skin color and she doesn't look all that old anymore. For the record, I am a fan of hers in ballroom but I do think she was the right one to send home. She couldn't do anything outside of ballroom and most of the remaining dancers are better than her.

My outrage is over the fact that Nigel SAID that Ryan did a poor solo. Nigel has sent other dancers home for this very same thing. Nigel also told Missy that she didn't do anything wrong...then sends her home? That's a load of crap. If Ryan had done a stellar solo, I would have grumbled (since I can't stand that grinning goon) but I would have been fine with the decision. It is the fact that without a doubt she had one of the worst solos and yet she stayed that makes me angry. She stayed on potential? That's BS, they ALL have potential otherwise why even put them on the show?

OK he better stop that, he may somehow manage to diminish my dislike of him, well at least till he does a routine haha. But that was really sweet of him.

What I picked up in the Results show is that if Nigel gives you praise or a good review, you're out of there.

I think she looks her age and I really don't get all the squabble over her looks. The REAL problem is her horrible makeup. It is just horrible, horrible, horrible. VERY heavy coverage, and VERY matt... not a pretty combination (quite drag actually). She would need really good contour/highlight to pull that off. I also think the eye makeup could be a bit different.

During rehearsal she had no makeup or natural "no makeup" makeup on and it took YEARS off her face. I blame the heavy coverage... if you're gonna go full coverage, matt never looks that great IMO. And even if the finish is luminscent, it can still be obvious even if your skin has no texture and it was blended like Photoshop (aka Christina Aguilera... regardless of her wearing pounds of makeup, hers is always blended extremely well, but that doesn't change the fact that you can tell she's wearing makeup).

Endit, I agree about the make-up. I'm 38 and I'm often guessed to be around 28. But I've noticed, if I'm all done up, more people guess closer to my real age. So naturally, I've taken to wearing less... But Ivetta, and/or the make-up artists do cake it on. She looked so much younger (and prettier) during rehearsal with hardly anything on. And Matte make-up works well if you have oily skin like me because some of the shine comes through. Otherwise...it's a bad idea. The make-up peeps did her no favors, that's for sure.

    Re: 6/23 Results Show *Spoilers*

I think maybe we should have some sort of media thread? OK so People Online has an article where they interviewed Nigel, Mary and some others about this past elimination. Some key elements, the rest can be found here.... SYTYCD Elimination Results : People.com

"[Nick] tapped his buns off when he did his solo in Las Vegas, I didn't feel that was the same tapping routine tonight. I didn't feel he was tapping for his life on this show and with Ricky, he gave us that," judge Mary Murphy said.
    AND

And while the judges agreed that none of the girls had amazing solos Thursday, they looked beyond the night's performances when deciding to keep Ryan.

"Right now [the dancers] don't have that much history so we have to depend on that solo, but we've seen her dance a solo before when we first met her at the audition that was mind-boggling," Murphy said.
Wait, Holy Back Pedaling Batman! Didn't they tell Missy, live during the results show, that she didn't do anything wrong? Hmmmm. AND didn't they just say in the very same article that Nick was better in his audition solo but stunk in this one so they are sending him home. BUT then they turn around and flip that over to give Ryan a pass BECAUSE of her audition solo. Nice.

So by this logic alone either Nick should have stayed or Missy should have.
