Lauren & Mark - Tahitian Dance

This is a first. I'm not sure what to say. There was a lot of butt wiggling in that routine.

Was there anything OTHER than butt wiggling? Not that I saw.

And Mark was the best thing about it.

    AdéChiké & Anya - Salsa

AdéChiké looks a little stiff here - not a lot of hip action. But tough routine.

    Ashley is out for tonight.

That salsa was really difficult but it looked sloppy.

    Jose & Courtney - Broadway

Jose has to act - this might be tough. And - that's exactly what it turns out to be. Jose is just too lightweight for this. It should be melancholy.

    Robert & Allison - Contemporary

Allison is back! They do a piece based on the illness of Travis's mother. (Ha! Robert is dressed in a Travis costume!) The piece is OK for me, but felt unfocused. The critiques were more moving than the performance. Thoughts and prayers go out to Denise Wall who has sent four students from her Virginia Beach dance studio to SYTYCD.

Oh look. They're telling me what's supposed to be touching to me again.

I wasn't touched. Honestly, I wish Travis' mom well, and hope she's okay, but there's no emotional connection to me, and so all this weeping and gnashing, like we just saw some great piece of art feels hollow to me. It was okay. Not great. Not epic. Not something which reached into my guts. Okay. Stop trying to manipulate me, you idiotic show. And now I hope it ISN'T nominated for an Emmy, specifically so Adam can have a conniption fit.

    Billy & Anya - Jive

Anya, again! I hope she's getting overtime pay. Well, well - Billy boy is showing some fire! Not the best jive I've seen, but he's finally getting the personality together.

    Kent & Neil - Broadway

Taking bets that this is Damn Yankees. Yup. Good routine for Kent - acting-wise. He also gets to show off some technique and he's keeping up with Neil's gymnastics - which is saying something.

    Billy & Lauren - Jazz

Mandy Moore routine seems to be The Red Shoes translated to sequined sneakers. Fun routine - nice chemistry between them. Didn't blow me away, though.
