I just watched my recording so I’m late but here’s my thoughts belatedly.

Yeah we have real judges tonight with their OWN opinions.

Donyelle and Travis – She just seems to overpower him. After his brilliant last week, this week was a let down; he is now my No. 2 guy. He seemed tentative in the quickstep. He was good, but not great this week. Donyelle after the trainwreck footwork last week in the samba needed to shine – she didn’t. Her posture in the quickstep was poor and they never obtained closed position. The Titanic could have sailed between them. I hate to say it, but I think she should go tonight. Did Benji carry her earlier? She hasn’t seemed the same to me since they split. I really think she deserves to be here tonight, but should now go in a strong 4th place.

Ivan and Allison – The tango was a let down for me. Ivan did much more this time, and I liked him better as a pole. He seemed off balance and a bit sloppy, it wasn’t tight enough. I didn’t like when he left the dance floor without escorting her off – SHAME. Allison did well again. She is very versatile. And they danced something else but I already forgot it.

Natalie and Ryan – I expected emotion from Ryan finally dancing with his dream girl, and got nothing! Technique is awesome, but I still feel nothing when he dances. He is poor with lifts also. He should go home. Natalie did great, I really enjoyed her. I thought the judges were harsh on their disco, it was OK. That choreographer had one routine that was only lifts, at least there was dancing tonight. The dancing in the contemporary piece was outstanding, just no connection between them.

Heidi and Benji – For the first time IMO a couple stole the show – Yes, Heidi and Benji. I think Heidi just saved her self from elimination. No one else on the show except Dmitri could have done that salsa (yeah, they danced on the 1 so it was a salsa really) It was amazing. Benji is now my No. 1 guy. Their illusion turns were very good, that’s a standard move in two step.

About the whining that it was unfair for the cousins to dance together? Well what about them having to do solos? The “solo” time is where you dance your specialty – but Heidi and Benji couldn’t!!! Their specialty calls for a partner. So that was UNFAIR to them. So give them this! It’s about time we got to see them in their element for once!!!

At this point my favs are
    1. Heidi, Allison, Natalie (tough)
    4. Donyelle

    1. Benji
    2. Travis
    3. Ryan
    4. Ivan

I would send Ivan and Donyelle home for sure. But I think Donyelle will be safe and Ivan too.

I am very sure Ryan and one of the girls will go home! :wink

I don't believe the quick step is supposed to be 'bouncy'.

Quickstep is one of the standard dances along with waltz, tango, foxtrot and V Waltz so should FLOW. The upper body should be smooth and have a nice frame, like the satellite that Jean Marc was referring to. The lower body is all about quick footwork, heel toe steps, but not literally bouncing up and down. It is a tough dance!

I agree, drkim. The quickstep is probably the hardest of all the smooth dances to learn. Our Ballroom Club at my college tried teaching us quickstep one night (with the teachers having little knowledge of it in the first place) and it was really confusing, so they/we ended up improving most of the steps

However hard the quick step is supposed to be, they were just bad. No excuses. Everybody gets hard dances out of their element. No excuses.
