Best-looking straight American male skater! Oh yeah, and he can skate.

If truth is relative, how do you know?
waywyrd.... John Zimmerman was a pairs skater with Kyoko Ino.
Is there anyone else out here who might remember.... isn't John Zimmerman the skater that was also the lucky recipient of a Queer Eye makeover last season??? He has a beautiful wife from Russia, or Croatia... or somewhere in Europe.![]()

Just did some research (even though I'm probably the only one that cares.) John was, indeed, the one who got the Queer Eye makeover. His wife, Sylvia, is from Italy. I was close. Heh.

Silvia Fontana is even more gorgeous than John. Oh yeah, and she can skate.![]()

Yup, I've seen that episode of QE at least twice. He was so sweet and so in love with Silvia. I loved the end when they skated together.
John teamed up with Kyoko Ina in 1998 after her partnership with Jason Dunjen, and his partnership with Stephanie Steigler (I think.. I'd have to look up on his former pairings). They had quick success by placing 2nd at the US Nationals in 1999, and then won the title three consecutive years in 2000, 2001, and 2002. Up until 2002 they hovered around 7th/8th/9th at the World Championships. However, for the 2001/2002 season, they dedicated themselves to training and had a breakthrough season, finishing 5th at the Olympics (in which many people thought they deserved at least 4th) and 3rd at the World Championships. They turned professional shortly after and are still skating in shows today. John is married to Italian singles skater Sylvia Fontana who was ranked 10th in the world at the time of her retirement in 2002. She has since begun training again to make a run for an Olympic berth for Torino.
