I think the furor over Ben never having worked with black hair is misplaced. As someone above mentioned, black hair has special conditions that not every stylist is trained or knowledgable enough to be comfortable to work with it. I get my hair cut every four weeks, and I never see black people in the salons I go to, and not because I go to SuperKKKuts, or any reason like that, but because there are many other salons out there that do exclusively work with black hair.

Exactly.. I get mine cut far less, but I do have highlights done every 3-4 months.. and I go to the same Salon for everything, Cut, Color, Facials, manicures & pedicures .. never do I see any women of Color or men for that matter walking in or even working there. I also don't go to a chain salon I have been going to the same place for nearly 10 years and it's rather high end and does offer a LARGE selection of services and knowing the Owner.. they wouldn't ever turn anyone away of any hair type

It come down to a matter of preference on the person looking for a hair stylist that knows their art/craft and is able to do it well. There are many Salons that DO work exclusively on black hair from budget to high end.. and their Stylists are highly skilled in what needs to be done to ensure that the hair comes out looking great.
