Re: RuPaul's Drag Race (Mondays 9PM, Logo)

Ru and Michelle have a podcast and have talked about this a couple times! I hope that it happens, like the article said Michelle being on CBB UK can only help it, her UK following is growing!

Vanity Fair did an interview with RuPaul, who talks about what he looks for in an audition tape, as well as the current political climate:

There's a longer version of the interview in the print version.

    Well this could be interesting:

Bad Robot To Produce Period Dramedy Series Based On RuPaul’s Life

    by Nellie Andreeva
    March 20, 2017 4:21pm

J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot has teamed with RuPaul and reality production company World of Wonder (RuPaul’s Drag Race) for a half-hour dramedy series project, a fictionalized version of RuPaul’s rise from club kid to drag queen, gay icon, and global star.

Written by Power executive producer Gary Lennon, the drama is set in New York City during the Reagan era 1980s. Warner Bros TV, where Bad Robot is based, is the studio. The series is expected to be taken to the marketplace shortly.

RuPaul will executive produce alongside Bad Robot’s Abrams and Ben Stephenson as well as World of Wonder’s Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato, and Tom Campbell.

RuPaul, a San Diego native who moved to Atlanta to study performing arts, settled in New York City where he became a popular fixture on the nightclub scene, a period in his life that has inspired the dramedy project.

RuPaul, full name RuPaul Andre Charles, has a longstanding relationship with World Of Wonder dating back to appearing on the company’s Channel 4 series Manhattan Cable and toplining its series The RuPaul Show for VH1 in the 1990s. WOW produces the hit RuPaul’s Drag Race — moving from Logo TV to VH1 this year — as well as all of its offshoots. RuPaul’s Drag Race, heading into its ninth season, earned RuPaul an Emmy Award for best reality series host last year.

Bad Robot is producing the breakout HBO drama series Westworld and recently announced new drama series for Hulu, Castle Rock, based on the works of Stephen King.

Lennon’s series credits also include Orange Is The New Black and Justified. Lennon, RuPaul and Bad Robot are repped by CAA.
They are probably hoping to go to cable or Netflix, since Ru's mother had a mouth like a trucker.

    That didn't take long...

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” Officially Renewed For Season 10

    by Christopher Rudolph

    Gentlemen, start your engines!

After last year’s sickening All Stars 2 and with Season 9 currently breaking ratings records, the Emmy award-winning RuPaul’s Drag Race is returning to VH1 for a herstoric tenth season that is sure to leave no wig un-snatched.

“As we celebrate a Decade of Drag, we’ll continue to tell universal stories of the tenacity of the human spirit,” RuPaul said in a statement about the series’ renewal. “Now more than ever, we rely on the power of love, laughter and creativity to combat fear and darkness.”

Season 9 is already one for the herstory books, pulling out all the stops with special celebrity guests like Lisa Kudrow, The B-52s and Kesha. Nearly one million viewers tuned in for the Gaga-filled premiere, more than doubling last season’s debut.

“It’s been amazing to see the show get its highest season ever on a whole new night on a whole new network,” said Chris McCarthy, President of VH1, MTV and Logo. “We brought in a whole new set of audience that is loving the show.”

Is it too early to start guessing who will be among the queens to sashay into the workroom next season?

A premiere date for Season 10 has not been announced.

Re: RuPaul's Drag Race in the Media

Here's an interesting article -- people have been noticing that Ru's makeup and hair hasn't been up to its usual flawless standards this season, and now we know why -- Mathu Anderson, her hair/makeup man for decades who has also directed photo shoot and video challenges on the show, quit suddenly while working on the first episode of the current season. Apparently, after getting short-term help for a couple of episodes, Raven (season 2 & All Stars 1) took over doing Ru's makeup, and season 3 queen Delta Work took over doing his wigs. Crazy!

Look, we've stayed silent long enough: We need to talk about RuPaul's makeup on 'Drag Race' - Mic.com

YASS SNL did a perfect sketch about Drag Race last night! A bunch of auto shop workers are sitting around talking about TV, and one of them (Chris Pine) brings up having caught Drag Race "by accident" and they all generally play dumb about the show while letting hints slip that they all actually watch it, and things ramp up to the point where they perform their own Lip Sync For Your Life.

They got all the lingo and history down, and even mentioned Trinity "The Tuck" Taylor -- whoever wrote the sketch is a real fan. Video in the link below:
