Um. Odd. She's got something, but I'm not sure I enjoy it as much as
Patrice Pike or Jill Gioia's samples. I will admit Ms. Large is singing a... difficult song in that audio clip.

EDIT - Wait. Just found her MySpace (they ALL have 'em): http://www.myspace.com/stormandtheballs

Yikes. Look at that pic of her (go there it may not be appropriate to repost here). It's a bit scary. And there are several more audio bits there. Again... she's er... strange. Her self-classification on that MySpace page is "Other / Jazz / Christian Rap". Wha?

And "Inna Godda Davida" mixed with "Dancing Queen" in one song, with a jazz backbeat? My head is spinning.
INteresting picture and even more interesting that she says her music choices are also jazz and Christian. I don't think the picture nor the name of her band or its album sound like anything my church will be playing.

She was very good last night. I did think she did a good job tho.

I think with almost ANY other group of women she would have stood out. She certainly does over the scared little southern girl, the freaky Hispanic Bjork clone and the hum-drum Canadian girl. But with the likes of Dilana, Patrice and Jill, she's got some competition that really makes what might have been a barn burner on any other show into just an even on-keel performance. All three were better than her, although that doesn't really decide anything, since I think any of the four of them are good enough to win this show.

Just like 99% of the Myspacers who say they're 99 years old are not 99 years old, Storm Large and the Balls is not a "Christian Jazz" band.

The local weekly (Willamette Week) has done quite a few articles about the band. I'd link them but I'm too new here.

    That's Jazz/Christian Rap!

And yeah. It does get kind of obvious that it's a joke. The power of Christ does not compel her.

    Storm Rocks!

    when storm wins ,
what ever she records will be great
i dont get where you come in with weird, unless you mean weird =good
i have known storm for years and she has always been
    unashamedly RAWK!
although her band the balls does a mash up or everything you can think of,
she always ties it together with her rock personna,
her previous bands were all heavy rock!
and as far as im concerned she is totlly qualified and deserving of the
    job
her out of the gate asskicking performance on wed should leave no doubt
    about her ability to win!!!

I'm afraid, tonedor, that if you continue to look around here you will inevitably be upset, because much stronger criticisms that "weird" will eventually pop up, even for the best performer. It's just an inevitable part of boards like this.

I thought she was second best to Dilana, but with a better voice. Great on stage.
