That's interesting. One of the kids on our local radio station talked to a Rockstar producer last week and apparently has a guaranteed audition in LA. He apparently was specifically told by this producer that it was, indeed, Van Halen to his dismay.

Who knows? She could have been misleading him in order to gauge interest or whatever.

I didn't say the guy was smart or had good taste.

Well, before Sammy joined the band, Eddie met with Patty Smythe. It was rumored that he asked her to join, but she turned them down.

That might've worked, but it would've been weird.

Interesting to see how it all pans out. My vote is for VH and if they actually turn it down, screw them as it would be a good move for them. They have been far from the spotlight in the past decade...

As for the "supergroup" w/Navarro, Sorum, etc... would be cool, but not get the interest from the average viewer that VH would.

VH might as well try to find another lead singer since they apparently ruined their relationship with 2 lead singers who did the job just fine. Diamond Dave is a great performer, although he is not my taste (too operatic and girly moves) and Sammy is just amazing! I've seen Sammy in concert a few times in the last decade - with VH and without, and he is awesome. If Rock Star picks VH as the new band, I'll watch and be entertained with some great VH music and all covers of various other music... but as for actually being able to replace someone like Sammy Hagar... good luck but I just don't see it. I'd be shocked, but if it happens - great - another decade of VH! And at least Sammy still tours and plays his solo stuff and his VH stuff anyway.

Ooooh, I am so glad this show is coming back! I'd be fine with VH or even Camp Freddy, as I like the guys who seem to comprise the band and the music they play would be very cool. I loved the whole experience last summer, although I worry that it would all be letdown after INXS/JD. Does anyone else feel that way??

Camp Freddy is a band I have never heard of, but there certainly seem to be a lot of really good musicians involved. This band may be better than VH, because many have already said they can't see a female fronting VH, whereas this band may be more agreeable to that idea. And there is no particular singer for the winner to have to live up to or be unfairly compared to. Whoever wins may be able to stand on their own.

I think they should just bring INXS back for Season 2 and replace JD with someone better who doesn't try to sound like Michael Hutchence.
