Well he certainly knows how to kiss @ss, like a real star.

I kind of have to seperate out the fact that he seems like a potential jerk from his performance though. I'm not sure he's the best singer on the show, but he's certainly a creative enough dude.

As for the hand in the air thing... wasn't that part of Alanis' schtick? I assumed he was just familiar with her performance style, even if he had to rearrange the song for his own voice.

So far the RS voters seem to be voting differently than the AI voters, as I would expect, so I'm hoping JD's comment doesn't bite him on the butt as it would if made on AI.

That said, I really didn't think his comment was a*s-kissing or jacka*sing. But even if it was the latter, there are lots of jacka*ses in the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame.

I think this guy is head & shoulders above the others. His ability to see beyond the standard interpretation & make the songs something different & exciting is way beyond what any one else has even attempted. His only bad moment was the foot in mouth exit speech last night. A true star in the making.

My hubby made a great point about JD. The fact is that he will be in INXS and will have to perform their songs relatively unaltered. New songs he'll have a say in, but I don't think they'll be too pleased if he over-tweaks existing hits. If you get my drift...

JD is fine. I've not been impressed by what he does really. I mean, he sounds fine, looks fine, and does fine enough arrangements. I'd just like to hear him take a song and not bastardize it before he performs.

I think JD is fine too but I cant picture him as a front man. He justs seems still a little awkward to me. Likes he is not totally comfortable in the skin hes in. Its the vibe I get. Even the comment he made about the other rockers on Tuesday nights show was a little too spontaneous and WEIRD. I dont believe he meant any harm but it was so...tactless.

However, I do think he is improving with every performance. It surprised me that I actually wanted him to stay this week and didnt want him to be voted off. He is a likeable sort in the "root for the underdog" sort of way.

I don't understand why any singer takes a well known song and makes major changes in the way it's performed. It makes me wonder what they liked about the song in the first place if they are going to perform it so differently. Thanks

Think he is the whole package. If a guy wins, he will be it.

Otherwise it's just karaoke, IMO. I thought Suzie changed up Roxanne a little too. If you look at the jazz greats, they all take a song and put their own interpretation on it. The band seems to like that J.D. is mixing it up, and that's got to be good.

Something tells me that the reason why this guy is popular is because he has the looks ... im pretty sure girls (and gays) are rooting for this guy just cuz of that ...

IMO, he can rock though but i dont like the cockiness ..
