You should point out to him that Stop! Go! and Pretty Vegas were based on the same music track. (Yeah, I know it's hard to believe. But it's true.)Originally Posted by PurrpleCat

Yeah, he knows. He thought that JD shoulda tried harder to work with the group...until he heard the finished product. He liked JD's song the best. I think he actually recognized it Tuesday.Originally Posted by LAGuy

I had no idea what Brooke was talking about when she said that viewers had selected the encore. Was there a separate vote somewhere?
Actually, I liked both J.D. and Marty's original songs, so I didn't feel too bad, but I was definitely out of the loop on that one.

But if that's not possible, gimme a Margarita...shaken, not stirred...and hold the salt, please.
Rats. I even checked the Tuesday episode before posting. That along with the date of the original article misled me to believe it was this past Wednesday. Sorry about the misinformation.Originally Posted by LAGuy
As for "undeserved". That is obviously my opinion. The flip side to the "he had the most votes argument" would be why did JD still finish bottom 3? Or did Jordis "deserve" to avoid the bottom 3 after Dream On? In my opinion, no.
In another thread someone stated the Beatles are talentless. Do I agree with that? Heck no! But, to each his own.
I am not particularly offended by JD's shirt. I just find it a little juvenile. I guess he's just BEING... HUMAN.
Awww hell...I didn't notice that shirt when he had it on but that's funny as hell to me....proves he's got a wicked sense of humor and things are tongue-in-cheek! Is JD my favorite? No but I love the badass in him....Go JD...now I'm gonna have to pay closer attention to people's clothes so I won't be out of the loop!!!Originally Posted by sweetpea

Thank you, Miss Griss. Usually we JD fans are accused of being mindless, sex-besotted yoyos. I'm glad someone has finally realized the truth.Originally Posted by Miss_Griss

Yes, after you voted for the Performance, you could either go back and vote for the Performance again, or click on a different link to vote for the Encore. You were then given the choice of performer and the songs ("Cover" and "Original"). I tended to vote for JD & Pretty Vegas whenever I mistyped those bloody scrambled, squiggly letters.Originally Posted by Miss_Griss
And that was all I was trying to get at, Seadog. These are all our various opinions -- and I think most of us can respectfully disagree as long as that is clear. But when opinions are stated as if they are "facts" then it automatically puts all of us who don't agree "in the wrong". I didn't mean any offense by it, but was just pointing out that there is, in fact, a difference in said opinions.Originally Posted by Seadog
There are all kinds of ways for that to happen. Since we don't know what the final vote totals were (for both the Encore and the Bottom 3) it's impossible to figure out what precisely went on. Here are some possibilities:Originally Posted by Seadog
The Performance Votes between Marty & JD may have been very close at the end. (Actually, I think at this stage of the competition, the difference between the Top 2 and the Bottom 3 is pretty small.) Maybe everytime a JD Fan threw a vote to the Encore, a Marty Fan was still voting for the Performance. Hence Marty ends up with more Performance Votes and JD more Encore Votes.
I've heard that some JD Fans voted more for the Encore than for the Performance. They figured that he would hit Bottom 3 again anyway (as MiG seems unmoveable from being one of the top vote getters) and that getting the encore and doing another INXS song would be better for JD's chances in the long run. (They also figured that Jordis was toast, regardless.) They are braver souls than I, but it does look like it worked out that way.
I think we also need to consider the other Rockers' Fans. They didn't necessarily vote for an Encore from their favorite, but instead voted for either Pretty Vegas or Trees. (I know several MiG fans, for example, who didn't want him to sing Home in Me again, since it hadn't gone over well with INXS.)
So there's a gazillion ways the Votes could've fallen the way they did. Without the totals, though, it's all just speculation.
Hey, just to let you all know, you can buy Pretty Vegas or the other rocker's origionals at music.msn.com now. They are .99 each and the money is being donated towards Katrina relief.

You know, the whole J.D. shirt thing...It kind of cracks me up because (a) no one noticed what was going on with his shirt enough to make him change into something else and (b) he stuck it to "the Man." The immature part of me likes that.![]()
What really would've been funny is if their stylist Ellie Mae (annoying name) actually chose that shirt for him not realizing what it said...
Hmmm. Interesting. I've been thinking about this for a while - I've decided that wearing that shirt was a bad judgment call on JD's behalf. There's a time and a place for everything. I don't think wearing that particular shirt on a tv show on broadcast tv during prime time is appropriate. jmo
Your husband is astute! That show is the reason I think that Marty should NOT win. If Marty doesn't have the ear to figure out that Pretty Vegas wasn't even in the same league as Jordis' lame attempt - then how is he going to add the musical direction and songwriting abilities necessary for OB:INXS.Originally Posted by PurrpleCat
Althought Trees is catchy ... it is like teeny bopper music. I wonder if his songwriting abilities - as well as his ability to discern songwriting ability -- are up to snuff for OB:INXS.
