I love the all-too-rare cover that's better than the original--Sweet Child O' Mine by Sheryl Crow and Hurt by Johnny Cash being my other two favorites in that category.

I like all three of those songs. I'm torn if Cash's cover is better, but the video just completely kicks ass (and I hate Johnny Cash, but man, he converted me with that song).
I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star in somebody else's eyes... but why... why... why can't it be me?

Hmmm...so we like the same movies and the same music. I'm not sure which one of us ought to be more worried.

Hurt was brilliant in Johnny Cash's hands. Who knew that the right goth-rock in country hands could be so much more effective?

I would have given real money to be in on that creative meeting, though:

Johnny Cash: Whoo, boy! Howdy! Sorry I'm late, Trent. I spent the morning bass-fishing, caught me a whopper, too! Then the NASCAR went a little over, and I had me a few too many Miller Lites! By the way, boy, Hurt? Brilliant stuff, man! Brilliant!

Trent Reznor: I spent the morning waking up from a heroin hallucination. I tried to eat some hard-boiled eggs, but realized they were dead baby chickens. An old lover called me, and she's fallen off the wagon again in Vegas. I spent the afternoon in the fetal position, trying not to scream or cut myself while I thought of the suffering of 70 percent of the world's population.

    [Pause.]

    Cash: Boy, you ain't right.

For some reason I find the thought of Cash telling someone "you ain't right" absolutely hilarious.

The video for Hurt by Cash is probably one of my top five videos ever. I jerked up the first time I watched it.
