"The Restaurant" Gets Cooking on NBC on July 20
NBC'S NEW UNSCRIPTED DRAMA 'THE RESTAURANT' GETS COOKING ON JULY 20
BURBANK, Calif. -- June 5, 2003 -- NBC announced the premiere date for “The Restaurant,” a new unscripted drama series for summer beginning Sunday, July 20 (10-11 p.m. ET), it was announced today by Jeff Zucker, President, NBC Entertainment.
“NBC is looking forward to an upbeat summer with an accent on original programming,” said Zucker. “New, unscripted dramas such as ‘The Restaurant’ prove that we intend to follow through on our promise to compete 52 weeks a year by offering something different.”
“The Restaurant” (Sundays, 10-11 p.m. ET) is a one-hour unscripted drama that offers a behind-the-scenes look at rising New York star Rocco DiSpirito, a first-generation Italian-American chef (Union Pacific and Tuscan) and one of People's "Sexiest Men Alive." He puts his reputation on the line and risks losing everything to fulfill his lifelong dream to create, launch and operate his own ultra-chic Manhattan eatery.
The workplace drama will also follow the foibles and flirtations of his waiters, waitresses, bartenders and sous chefs as they mix it up with the steady flow of Manhattan's social scene. And, in a unique twist, "The Restaurant" will be the first dramatic series that literally caters to the viewing public.
The six-episode series is executive-produced by Mark Burnett of Mark Burnett Productions, Reveille’s Ben Silverman and Magna Global Entertainment’s Robert Riesenberg.
