Prhoshay, I picked up on Brianna's comment about Ryan being raised differently too. I wondered what that meant ... I hope Andy discusses it more in the reunion if Brianna was there. I wonder if Ryan did not grow up around as much money as Brianna did, and if being surrounded by it now makes him uncomfortable. He certainly does come across as a man who has very traditional views of what masculinity is. If he does identify providing for a family as defining being a man, and has wound up living with his mother-in-law at least giving people the perception that he can't provide for his wife and kid, I could understand him being even more uncomfortable and lashing out in crazy ways. Maybe it would be best for Brianna if he were stationed somewhere on the other side of the country when he gets back from his deployment. THat could allow them to build their family unit of 3 standing on their own to see if that helps things. I've had a couple of friends with mother-in-laws like Vicki, and seen the misery they go through with a woman who insists she can tell them how their household must work. The way that Vicki can try to emasculate a man, I can imagine it would be very difficult for a son-in-law too. Speaking of emasculating Vicki, she managed to make me symphathize with Slade at the end of the episode. It kills me to say it, but i was impressed with the way he and Gretchen both handled her attack. While I don't like the things that Slade has said about the women, and think he does it in a desparate attempt to get his own fame by attaching himself to them, there was a LOT of hypocrisy in what Vicki was saying. It's not a matter of you should not say mean things about women -- you shouldn't say mean things about anyone. And i tend to agree with Slade that attacking a person's character is far worse than insulting their looks. Further, I think it shows how shallow Vicki is that she'd think that appearances matter more than character. I was impressed with how calmly both Slade and Gretchen defended themselves, pointing out that Vicki didn't have ground to stand on, but not doing it in way that would turn her into crazy attacking Vicki.
