ITA. Good grief, why hang around outside the party?...probably was in the script.
If for no other reason, "Brooks is worse than Slade" because he hooked up with Vicki-Screecher! Gotta have a screw loose to do that, for sure!
Yes, she was so crazy with worry about Briana that she went to a party. If it were my daughter, we would have spent the evening before together.
I just can't figure out why Vicki has figured out what a little witch Tamra was for being responsible for bring Slade to the party. A good friend would have dumped the idea if you knew it would bother your friend....even if she had invited the husbands/boyfriend before the comedy club act. No problem telling them it was off because someone would be very uncomfortable. But we all know Tamra knew and did it anyway...just to make drama and trouble. That's what she does.

The producers might have egged Tamra on, and Brianna might have told her mother to go to that party (because in less stressful circumstances I am sure Vicky has the capability of driving her nuts....she probably didn't have the energy for a Vicky melt down right before her surgery.)

I do like the work together path this may be taking. What stands out to me is the Gretchen Slade relationship. Each is filling a need right now. Maybe Gretchen has more control than she has ever had. So she finds what we would find as intolerable, tolerable. And of course slime needs no extensive interpretation.

I think Brianna may very well have been less stressed the night before her surgery, not to have Vicki around. Vicki behaves like she's the one having the surgery. Always has to be the center of attention and dramatic.
How did Brianna ever become the charming, sensible, beautiful woman that she is with Vicki for her mom? Maybe because she had Donn for her father?

And Gretchen...yes, it must be quite an ego trip for her to be the one in a relationship making the money. When she was with Jeff he obviously paid for her affection & controlled her, now she is the one who is controlling her "man".

I thought I heard Vicki say something (maybe it was on Watch What Happens Live) about Slade being the only cast member who doesn't get a paycheck from Bravo? Did anyone else here catch that comment?

Interesting comparison between Donn's conversation with Brianna and icky's frantic me-me-me-me conversation with Brianna. Donn was awkward, but very attentive and caring, clearly thinking about the girl's best interests and trying to be strong with her. Icky knows only how to make situations worse.

And Vicki is as blind as a bat, thinking there's a difference between Brooks or Slade not paying child support. Although Vicki is lucky to have any man take up with her. Her total self involvement, workaholic ways, and screeching voice is enough to scare off most men. Those who say that Brooks is in it just for the tv exposure are probably right. But geeze, even if I was just dying to be on tv, I couldn't last a day with that witch.
I'm not trying to sound ignorant or anything but, what is sincerely wrong with Slade? Other than dating Housewife after Housewife. I don't know about his child support. Maybe it's because he's unemployed? I can understand that reasoning. But Why don't the other wives care for him?

In a nutshell so as not to rehash every sordid detail from the past seven seasons, prior to hooking up with Jo, he had a child with a former girlfriend. The child has a brain tumor and needs expensive medical care. On the first season, Slade was running around spending money left and right and then he didn't have a job and had no money. He owes (I think still does--I don't keep up with his support case that much) something on the order of $100K in back child support. He never seems to really want to get a job of a legit sort so his wages won't be garnished, or so the speculation goes. The other housewives aren't keen on him as they generally think he's ducking his support duties which is made even worse by the fact that his child is so ill.

That said, I think it's time to retire the whole OC franchise. It's the same fights over and over again. The only thing I found interesting this past episode was Brianna's conversation with Donn. That was a nice, supportive conversation.

I did not like Slade the first season when he was with Jo.
He seemed extremely arrogant and obnoxious.
When the economy tanked and so did his business he appeared, at least, to have realized what a cocky fool he'd been and suddenly "owned" up to his very changed circumstances.
I have to give the guy credit at this point for exposing himself, warts and all.
I don't know about the lack of child support and / or if it's true.

What I really hate is that at least year's reunion, Tamra was just absolutely horrid to Slade for the child support issue - even going so far as to walk out on the reunion. Vicki didn't get on him nearly as much as Tamra, but now Tamra appears to be the "golden" girl to both Slade and Gretchen. I think Tamra is way worse than Vicki could ever be.

You're probably right about the reason Vicki was at the party and not with her daughter. I guess I was basing it on my relationship w/my daughter, which is the very opposite of what those two have. Poor Brianna.
Like you said, Brianna didn't need to have to "mother" her mother nor listen to her "personal angst" about the situation. Very selfish woman.

So why PuddyFace thinks why his situation is different from Slade and Brooks is better than Slade is beyond me.
I will admit that I really have not watched much of any version of RHW lately. Vicky is no spring chicken & good men her age that want to date her age are few & far between. Ones without baggage are even harder. I'm in her age group so I can say this. I just am at the point that I would rather be single & enjoy my life, spend time on me & with friends that deal with someone elese baggage. Not worth it to me & perhaps my standards are higher than Vicky's.

PA Snow Bunny, keep your standards. I admire that.
I don't think these women are confident enough to not have a man...no matter what he's like. I mean, really, look at these guys. Like Jimbo, Slade, Brooks, and Eddie. Not much there that I'd want.
