    My kind of library woman!!!

And, about T's and Joe's appearance on WWHL.....on the teaser, T has that "I'm going to hurl," look. She looks like she needs Kenya's (Atlanta) fan!
Funny how getting called out can give you that look.

The headline on jezebeldotcom is: 'Real Housewife' Melissa Gorga's New Book Advocates Marital Rape", which has Melissa saying that is not the intention of her book, but she stands behind everything she has written. One of the more, um, outrageous comments she makes has nothing to do with sex, but rather, her bathroom habits. Apparently, she does not ever "defectate" in her own room, preferring instead to go to the nearest Burger King. WTH? Crazy chick! For some excerpts check here: 'Real Housewife' Melissa Gorga's New Book Advocates Marital Rape

Today she was signing copies of her book about a 20 minute drive from here. No thanks.

Re: The Real Housewives of New Jersey

I wouldn't pay any money for Melissa's book. I did borrow a copy from the library and scan it (I couldn't read it all since it made me want to vomit) and then for entertainment, I read some excerpts to a few friends. You should have seen the looks of disgust on their faces. All I know is that if I were Italian, I would be pretty offended that this type of relationship is portrayed as "Italian style". This is mainly a chronicle of an abusive relationship. Joe looks like even more of an ass and also like a weak willed man easy to manipulate. I am not a Melissa fan, but I felt kind of sorry for her, and especially her children who will be raised to think that this is a normal, ideal relationship.

I lived with a controlling man like that and eventually kicked him to the curb. Oddly, I now have a happy marriage with mutual respect. My husband has changed diapers and helped with housework and I don't look down on him for that. He gets home from work in the middle of Breaking Bad and he doesn't expect me to take his shoes off for him, get him a drink, and present him with dinner. He will heat up the plate I left for him and watch it with me. When we have an argument, we communicate and resolve it without using sex as a tool. My vagina isn't open 24 hours a day like a 7-11 and he is ok with that. Oh, and he understands if I am not feeling like sex, that no means no and he doesn't have some special privilege as a man to ignore that and throw me over the counter and take me by force. We both use the bathroom in the master bath and it hasn't ruined anything yet.

Until I read you guys' comments about Melissa's book here, I had no INTENTION of even checking it out from the library.

    Now, however, I WILL.

    Why?

Because after reading your comments, I realized my eyeballs hadn't received a good workout in AGES.

So, I'm going to dive into the apparent cesspool that her book is so I can strengthen my eye muscles by engaging in some SERIOUS eye-rolling as I'm reading it.

Melissa's view and my view on love, marriage, sex are so totally different....I understand everyone is different. I guess if it works for her that's fine but I don't need some woman who has to keep her husband at bay by acting like she is a lady of the night...my husband respects me and i respect him....Joe keeps her around like she is a sex object -- once again...I don't get it...but to each their own and if that is how their marriage "works" for them great...but I am not buying into the bull she is trying to sell.

I don't know--she doesn't tend to word things like "I like to make Joe happy by being in the house when he gets home" for example. Most of it tends to be she does what he has "trained" her to do ( yes there is a rather scintillating passage about how early on he was her teacher in how she should behave or else. the or else includes things like violent emotional outbursts, throwing a chair in the restaraunt, or breaking a high chair. Probably also includes beatings...) to avoid a fight and if that fails, she lays on the bed and lets him mount her because that makes it easier. To me, I don't think that really works for her, but I think she thinks that is how things are supposed to be and those are the tips we women should live by--it is sort of like the Good wife guide once published in the 50s.

like I said to each their own...I guess in their world it works. to me a relationship is so much more then just sex.

Re: The Real Housewives of New Jersey

Ok I found those excerpts disturbing to say the least. Ripping clothes off, pooping outside of the house, making sure you are IN the house when he gets home, no sleep overs anywhere w/o him, his statements on the boys vs his daughter as they grow up! Gawd! WTF!

A marriage is not having one spouse up high on a pedestal dictating to the other spouse.

We all put our pants on one leg at a time. Period.

I could never be friends win Melissa and watch her be in a relationship like this and dare to have her call it a marriage.

Melissa is a Stepford Wife. A robot. She cannot possibly be happy. This type of relationship will not last.

Gorgo needs to step it up and become a real man, a real husband, and a real dad or he will see Melissa start to pull away.

****TO NESS, if you do read the book, drop back by and give us the "cliff notes"! Thanks, Lovie! Mwah!

Holy crap, the published excerpts read like a porno intro. I guess if that putridly hideous dunce of a husband wanted a snuff evening, she'd be right there. Well, at least for the beginning. These people, both of them, are subhuman trolls.

Melissa's ideas no doubt were affected by her absentee partying father.

She stops by burger king every day to take a dump? I thought most people like to do that at home. And as big as her house is why would she not just do it at home? I guess husband is following her around.
