But that does not make the observation of their behavior any less valid; it's just an opinion. I guess some would be more comfortable with "she exhibits behavior commonly associated with that of a sociopath," but people don't talk like that. Correcting others who use shortcuts to say basically the same thing is one of the things that gives our profession a bad name. You don't see self-identified medical doctors protesting the use of a medical term here on a reality-tv forum, only self-identified lawyers. As a lawyer myself, I find it a bit embarrassing. We're here to have fun (in a schadenfreude sort of way), not to be the language police.
Applause applause, Bred. You said much the same thing as I said in my last post, only you said it better!

I don't know where you practice, Bred, but I don't think any of my colleagues pretend to be more literate than anyone else. They certainly don't try to be English teachers - and neither do I.

My objection, if you read back, was to the use of perjorative lablels like "sociopath," which has become as prevalent in common usage as "retard." It's a pet peeve. If that makes me a language cop, so be it!

Last I looked this is a message board, filled with opinions.
It also gets filled with a lot of unfounded gossip and rumors which are just that.
So, IMO, it's all opinion, anyway.

Call her what you will, I think most of us agree that Danielle is damaged. She's the slimy one who always managed to pity herself out of consequences when she and her group did something wrong together. Ugh.

I would like to see more home interactions or group parties/eating out ... anything but Danielle or any mention of her. This includes the blogs. Wanna drive her insane ladies ??? IGNORE her. Completely. Do not respond to her vitrol on the show or in her blogs, or mention her under any circumstances.

What does Chris Laurita do?? I know the Manzos have the Brownstone, and Joe has a construction company, but what does Chris do?

Signature Apparel was not immediately available for comment.

But which is it - if she's damaged, doesn't she deserve our empathy and best wishes? It would appear to me that she lives at the intersection of Poor Upbringing Street with Dumb Decisions Drive. She's damaged but she can't or won't do the work to repair herself. I thought she might have - witness the meek contrite Danielle (an act?) on the couch and Dina's testimony and empathy for her 'brokenness' but damned if she hasn't picked herself up, dusted off the evidence of her dysfunction, and marched on.

Oh, not too sure about Dina and Tommy splitting up - I tweeted that her hubby was hot and sexy and she agreed. Either she's hiding it well or has healed the breach.

Danielle is clearly damaged, I will continue to call her a sociopath until she starts acting like a human being (and this is a dig at HER not at those who are medically diagnosed as a sociopath or whatever the medical term is) and showing come REAL concern for others (including her children).

I swear we (the viewers) heard the same rumor last year because her husband wasn't on the show but she explained the reason why (he didn't want to be). I haven't heard any new rumors of a split (aside from here) and she it doesn't appear that there's any turmoil in her marriage...or to echo Anglo, she's hiding it well.
