    10/10 Show Discussion Thread

I started a thread to discuss this weeks show.

I used to like Teresa, then this season it started to fade a lot. After last night's show, I'm no longer a fan. She is so delusional and not accepting of responsibility. It's uncomfortable to watch.

    The Rules:

    1. Teresa is all about family, even when she's slamming them in her book. Can't you take a joke?

    2. Teresa is all about friends, even when she's slamming them in her book. Blank stare when Jax points out that if Caroline is 1/16 Italian, so is her husband.

    3. No one questions Teresa. If you do, you obviously don't "get it", or are going to someone else's side, or forget that she's from Paterson.

    4. Teresa must be oohed and awed over at all times, or she will pull out the bikinis and have an impromptu fashion show. Also, there is no place inappropriate for her to be half dressed, since she is the bomb.

    5. If Teresa does make a tiny joke about your heritage, or your son's career aspirations (she can't spell it but she means it), she'll make up for it by putting a really good picture of herself with you in her "cookbook."

    Re: 10/10 Show Discussion Thread

The finale left me wondering about what casting changes we'll be seeing. Bravo has had casting calls out for most of the season. Season 4 is in the can. Jacqui says she won't be around for Season 5. Rumor has it that Caroline won't, either. The only one I'm half-way sure will stay is Teresa. She's vain, delusional, dumb, deceitful, and arrogant - the perfect Bravo Housewife!

I don't see her being responsible for alienating anyone in the cast, though. Not really. She's been the same shallow, brash, loud, self-centered woman all along, and they loved her for it! She amused them. Now, of course, they have the Gorgas to amuse them.

I think Jacqui was either going to quit, or was told to resign before she was cut. Her story has only been about Ashley for almost 2 seasons, and no matter what you think about Ashley I think her mom's behavior toward her is ugly. It's also pretty ugly to willingly, publicly, and relentlessly crucify your daughter in the way Jacqueline has. Then whine about it constantly! Oh! Boohoo, look, Ashley has given me a zit/headache/bags under my eyes. I think Jacqui needs to stop drinking. It seems her worst moments involve alcohol. It's painful to watch. I don't know if I can wait through Season 4 for her departure.

Caroline's motives for leaving may be more complex. I think she envisioned this show as one long Manzo focused opportunity that has gone flat for her. Her kids have let her down in this regard. Despite being shoehorned into the limelight, they have had little success in creating enough interest for a spin off or a sustained storyline. Caroline really seemed to consider herself a sort of manager, with the rest of cast members being satellites in orbit around her. It didn't work out that way. First Dina split, then she got rid of Danielle, and then Teresa stole all the thunder and branded the show for herself. Poor Caroline. Turns out neither she nor her family are all that interesting to watch. And I think that's what the cookbook scandal's all about.

Let me say that I think it's bizarre to put gossip, insults, and jibes in a cookbook. But that's what Teresa does because she's selling only to the RHoNJ fan base (and because she really doesn't have anything genuine to impart in the culinary arts). While I don't think Bravo told her to strafe everyone in the cast in writing, I'm pretty sure they were gung ho about it and distributed a copy to every member of the cast. Let the games begin! Drama for Caroline (with a built in reason to exit stage left), cookbook exposure for T., ratings (and future ratings) for Bravo. Everybody wins.

I think Teresa (and possibly Melissa) will remain for Season 5 and that Kathy and Richie will, too. Kathy's not much of a drama queen but her husband is quite the little sh*t stirrer, isn't he? Kathy might turn out to be Caroline 2.0.

Are you going to stay tuned to find out?

    Re: 10/10 Show Discussion Thread

    Well said, Poppy.
I also think Caroline thought the show would revolve around her family, with her starring as The GodMother, as matriarch of the large family. It really appeared that way in the first season.

Teresa is one of those people who is not very intelligent but she's canny. She knew exactly what she was doing in the cookbook and she had her answer ready for when anyone said anything..."It's a joke...where is everyone's sense of humors (sic.)"

Anyone notice how alike Teresa's father and Juicy are?? It's all about them, they lie on the couch, expecting people to come to them, they're cranky most of the time and probably the same body type.

And why does Joe Gorga have such a need for his father's acknowlegment? Well, I guess we know the answer there.
There are times when I think Teresa looks very attractive, albeit tacky and low class, but then at other times she almost looks scary witch like.

And that photographer sure knew how to use Photoshop.........a bunch of semi homely people suddenly looking fabulous. Where can I get her phone number????!!!

As for Jacqueline and Ashley: It bothers me that Jacq created the little monster that Ashley is but she expects proper behavior w/o proper discipline and guideance. I noticed that Ashley has hair extensions.....since she doesn't have a job, how did she pay for them? How does she pay for the gas in her car? How does she pay for her nails, her clothes, etc??
She's been taught that she can have things without doing a darn thing, all thanks to her mom.

DragonLady and PoppyFields, thanks for your assessments of these characters - you put into writing what I'm thinking.

The only thing I can add is that I've begun to think that Teresa comes from a place of fear. Unless she keeps major feuds going, she is nothing to Bravo - her cookbooks won't sell, she won't get camera time and a possible raise next year, she'll have no chance at paid in-person appearances, retailers will stop gifting her with clothing and other goodies, she won't get free lessons for her kids... all that and more.

Income from a pizza joint, well the average person could live on it, but she's used to spending money like a drunken Taylor. I think the woman is flat out panicky; she'll destroy anyone she can if she thinks it promotes herself. Her fear trumps everything else- her scrappy street logic kicked in, and not being a person of actual intellect, all she has is adrenalin and heathen instinct.

I think you're right. It had to be instinct because that little pea brain could not come up with this intellectually.
She'll stay on forever......she needs the money...lazy old Juicy sure doesn't seem to be out bring home any bacon, esp since he sold his interest in the pizza place.

I think you've summed her up quite tidily, Prism! And Lord knows, she has a lot of intimidating things happening in her life right now. With $11 million worth of debt to repay, 4 girls to raise, no current job skills to speak of, a lazy (and possibly prison bound) husband, and her second cookbook tanking, Bravo is all he has.

I hope her street smarts, adrenaline, and heathen instinct see her through these times. She's the only hope those little girls have, and I do think she loves them completely.

Did anyone else notice that once again Gia became very upset with the mention of alcohol? I get the feeling there is a lot more drinkin going on than what we see.

Yes I noticed that too. The look of pain on her face should never be seen on a child. I think this lil' girl has seen way too much alcohol, drugs, screaming, slamming, breaking, fighting, swearing, physical abuse, verbal abuse.... just from what we see on television; gawd only knows how horrid it is in private; and the look on that kid's face.... her world is not a pretty place.

Yes, I agree, she does love those girls, and in her own pathetic way she tries to make life good for them. Unfortunately it takes more than size T3 prom dresses and floppy headdresses. Teresa must have had horrible parenting herself, to be her age and have no idea how to raise happy, confident, loving children.
