Na, na, hey, hey, kiss him goodbye... Ken is OUT! There is a god! My prayers have been answered!

I wonder if the show decided to send Ken home at the runway just to make it seem like that was the reason he was going out. He might have gone ballistic if he was forcibly removed from the show after the confrontation at his room.

I really loved the dress Helen made and for once I agreed with the judges. It was the clear winner!

I think Alexandria should be the next to go. Her outfits are ill-fitting and just sad. She made her 20 year old superfan look like a frumpy old lady.

I forgot about the Helen blowup - that only reinforces my opinion that he should've been eliminated before the runway. I do agree with the suggestion from someone they did it this way to give him a dignified exit, but seriously - no other folk who has blown up like that got a free pass and was eliminated in a classy way. (And no, not even Sandro counts because he LEFT the show in anger, and had to be escorted, closely, by Tim when he went to apologize. I'll give him credit for at least apologizing for his actions and unlike Ken, sounded genuine).

    What a loser.
And a huge difference here - No, Alexander's was not lined... but at least that fact was hidden for the most part.

    Ken's was a visible error.

In a way, Ken was also nearly Ven 2.0 in that he treated his model poorly for her choice in color. He *only* misses the title in that he didn't berate his client for her choice in her face... so that makes it a bit worse actually.

As far as the top looks - Helen is proving more and more that she deserves to be there. That dress was stunning. I also loved Justin's dress - but is it HER name or HIS name on the dress? It was a clever and as mentioned not normally seen (and if it's her name, not at all). Brandon's also was really nice for day and night - he did a two-fer and in two days as well. I do see why he was the third in the top three look, as there are a couple of similar ideas out there, but it was very well made for a simple dress.

I think Dom dodged a bullet big time - the dress was better than the jacket, and Kate's outfit was nice but I felt a smidge baggy in the front.

Bottom looks - no question they were the right ones. Alexandria's dress was too short for an interview dress, Ken's was not well made and it showed, and Alexander tried but he bit off far more than he could chew. He should've suggested something a bit similar - and what came out also would've worked... but it wasn't well made.

Everyone can keep on cheering about Ken being sent home while I sit here shaking my head that Helen won. AGAIN. Really?!
    (Sorry, pikachu.)
The dress was nice, and her Real Woman model had an amazing makeover, but I didn't think it was the best of the Top 3. In fact, I thought it was the bottom of the top.

    ~sigh~

No, that's your opinion, and I totally respect it. I think why many including myself feel that Helen earned this win is that a. she's listening to the judges and it's showing in the work, b. it's impeccably made (as were all top three) and c. it did best match (if by a smidge to Justin's) model. It was by far the BIGGEST turnaround on the client from "drab" to "fab."

There is also possibly d. - Justin has been eliminated and was saved by Tim Gunn's save, so maybe the judges just don't want to be proven wrong so he won't win.

I haven't liked all the items she's made this season, especially her win for that exercise gear, but this week she did earn the win, if by a hair. Justin I think will be empowered even more and produce a stunning outfit for a win.

IMO, Helen does not deserve three wins, Justin once again got the shaft, and Ken should've been sent packing after his outburst to production staff.

Justin, Kate and Braden for the finale.

Going back to the hotel room...I would swear that I heard Alexander knocking on the door (twice) before he opened it, and Ken just ignored it.

And then Ken pulled a nutty on the staff.

He should have been sent home then.

I thought Justin had the hardest task of the top three--he had to deal with his model's recent big weight loss (and good for her, but it did mean he had to figure out an undergarment for her as well as a dress) and the modesty requirements of her religion. What she wanted, he delivered in a really original way, well constructed way. The other two got to do an edgy power suit and a red carpet dress, which are the kinds of things a lot of designers love to do anyway. I know Justin said he likes to do more modest clothing, so he was fine with that, but it's still a bigger challenge, and he was so cheerful about handling it. Also, I really thought the idea of using her signature as part of the design was cool and made the dress entirely one of a kind and specifically hers.

I was really glad that everyone, even Ken was respectful towards their clients and even seemed happy to work with them. I hate it when the designers make tacky comments about women with real world figures as opposed to their typically thin and statuesque models. Honestly, if they want to have a career, they need to think about creating clothes that women with hips and busts who aren't 5'11'' can wear, because most of their potential customers aren't going to be runway models. Look at all the designers who've worked with stores like Target and Kohl's now. They have to come up with clothing that many different sizes and body types can wear.

That's one thing I've always liked about Mizrahi. When he first started his Target line, he actually had a motor home that went to state fairs and did make-overs of women who just happened to be there that day. I heard an interviewer ask him about doing that, and he said when he was just a teenager and wanted to be a designer, it was his mother and all her "zaftig" friends who were the ones who would encourage him and pay him to sew for them when everyone else made fun of him. Since he appreciated their support, one of the ways he could pay them back was to do lines like the ones for Target that real world women could wear too.

Of course, I also love that he's referred to mutts as the "haute couture" of the dog world.
