    Starr - The Underdog

    http://www.bravotv.com/Project_Runway

Q:How would you describe your design philosophy or point of view?
"Fashion for the Spotlight." I think women should dress with a dramatic flair. I design for the woman who is looking for something different, isn't afraid to be noticed and believes that she's beautiful.

Q:What would someone close to you describe as your best and worst traits?
I'm very competitive and assertive. (Those are both my best and worst traits, depending upon who you talk to.)

Q:What was your most embarrassing moment?
When I was 15 and riding in a car with my friend, we were stopped at a red light and having a great time making fun of the young man in the car next to us, calling him a "yuppie." (We were punks back then.) But she let her foot slip off the brake, and rear-ended the car in front of us. That was so awful...

Q:What is an odd fact or talent you possess?
Professionally, I'm a lawyer at a large corporate law firm; fashion is a hobby, but I'm trying to get my own line in the market. Also, I can tie cherry stems in a knot with my tongue.

Q:Who are the designers you admire most?
Coco Chanel, John Galliano, Madelaine Vionnet.

Q:What are your favorite fashion magazines?
WWD, Vogue, Bazaar, W (for the pictures), Elle (for the articles).

Q:What are your favorite TV shows?
Carnivale, Twin Peaks and Queer Eye.

    Q:What are your favorite movies?
Moulin Rouge, Pirates of the Caribbean, any "costume drama," Breakfast at Tiffany's, Der Blaue Engel.

Q:If you could design an outfit for any living person, who would be your dream client and why?
Paris Hilton. She has such power over the American people; she is the perfect client because of her confidence. Paris looks great in clothes because she knows she's beautiful. Women that wear my clothes need to believe in their own beauty. They certainly don't need to look like Paris Hilton, but they should have that kind of confidence that flies in the face of disdain.

I watched her video, and she has an intriguing story. I like the pinup retro look of her clothes, too.

Interesting how so many of these designers admire John Galliano. He's an acquired taste, at best.

I like her! But when I first saw the picture in the middle I thought it was Yoanna from cycle 2 of ANTM!
A recent survey stated that the average person's greatest fear is having to give a speech in public. Somehow this ranked even higher than death which was third on the list. So, you're telling me that at a funeral, most people would rather be the guy in the coffin than have to stand up and give a eulogy.

Based on these answers alone, love her already! And judging from the pictures, she has the gamine look down pat!

I wonder, how is it she's the "underdog"?

I don't know how they determine she's the "underdog", but I like her.

She reminds me of Audrey Hepburn in "Funny Face". I like the retro "Dior's New Look" she's got going.

I guess she's the underdog due to her lack of experience. I like Starr's style, and the fact that she chose Paris Hilton as a muse is charming.

This jumper is cute, if very simple:
