Worst PR Season Ever?

I've watched every season faithfully, and I've stayed faithful to this season, but I can't shake the feeling that this is absolutely the worst lot of designers to date. The talent pool seems a bit drained, and now we're getting a lot of the bottom dreck. Is it because last season was so talented that this season seems so (to use a PRism) underwhelming? Or am I alone in this thinking?

The quality of this season makes me really worry what will happen to the brand once Elle is replaced by Marie Claire, and PR jumps to Lifetime.

It depends. I do think Leann is very innovative and Terri & Korto & Joe & Stella are undoubtedly talented. Jerrell has flashes of artistry & individualism as well.

But there can't be a Uli or Laura or Christian or Rami without there being a Vincent or Stephen. There's always a huge gap in the talent level of every season.

Re: Worst PR Season Ever?

Something is different this season, in terms of the attitudes of the designers. They seem less friendly, more wrapped up in themselves, and (most shockingly) less respectful of Tim. They seem more "reality TV" than most of the previous seasons' designers. Maybe it's just what happens when a show gets several seasons under its belt; new contestants have already seen the show, and maybe they take some aspects of it for granted.

Yes and that makes me sad

I think part of that is because of the way he has to split his time now. The first few seasons, he had nothing else going on all summer. Now his schedule is stretched incredibly thin.

Re: Worst PR Season Ever?

I missed the first two seasons of this show, but watched seasons 3 and 4. I do think this is one of the dullest, least inspiring seasons. I don't expect them all to have talent, there are bound to be a few clunkers in the bunch, but this group leaves a lot to be desired. There are some strong contenders, including Kenley, Terri, Korto, Joe and maybe Leanne. Jerell and Suede are not that consistent, although I have seen flashes of talent and creativity from both of them. Keith, Blayne and Stella could go anytime as far as I am concerned.

I have noticed that Tim's heart doesn't seem to be in it this time around. Maybe he is being stretched too thin. That's too bad, because in many ways Tim is the heart and soul of this show.

I don't think the talent level is up to the previous two seasons at all. Their personalities and immaturity are also annoying. I have never heard so much carping, whining and complaining. I think last season was always going to be a tough act to follow, but this is shaping up as a real dud. I shudder to think what will happen when the show moves to Lifetime. What is that old saying, if it isn't broke, don't fix it? Why mess with a good thing by moving to another network?

Don't forget, next season, the show moves to lifetime channel and will also be headquartered in Los Angeles. I don't know if Tim will get the nod to make the move with the show. Bravo should put on a rival show to PR, pay the current staff BIG BUCKS and put up a fight. It is a real mistake to think that the show can succeed in LA. Not exactly the fashion capital of the USA is it?

Tim, Michael K and (presumably) Nina will all be making the move to LA. At least, the last round of press releases claimed this a month or so ago.

I don't get how Michael Kors has the time to scoot off to LA for 5 weeks of taping, especially with Fashion Week starting here next week. His headquarters is right down the street from my office, across from Bryant Park.

Re: Worst PR Season Ever?

Harkening back to NativeNewYorker...

I think that's the biggest drag this season is that the personalities just aren't there. I mean they're there, but they're reality show personalities. The only few I think have non-reality show personality are Jerrell, Stella, Terri, & Leanne. Even Korto seems to want her day in the sun (i.e. her first interview in episode one), and shows high highs & low lows personality wise.

There's no Christian, Chris, Laura, Vincent, Wendy, Austin, Kayne, Jeffrey etc... Some may have been 'villians', but they were fun to hate! Now I just hate 'em... period (Keith, Daniel, Blayne, Suede... I'm talking to you.)

Heck I'd prefer Jillian's non-personality over most of this bunch. Not VictorYA's though. I can only watch so much.
