First garment you ever made? I was 13 and made a poncho.

What's your design training/schooling? Art school and self-taught on the job.

What have been your influences? In the past I approached my work as an artist always pushing to challenge myself to push the edges on what I do. Now I try to do the same, but make it marketable.

Item you're most proud to have designed? My hoop collection - it makes people smile.

Favorite designer(s)? Margiela, Chalayan, Maurizio Amadeo, Yamamoto, Prada, Wang, Kawakubo.

Fashion must? Make whatever one buys "your own."

Fashion faux pas that drives you crazy? JEANS!

Favorite style icon? Katharine Hepburn.

Dream celebrity client? What would you make for him/her? A gown for Bjork or a suit for Tilda Swinton.

If you had to name your label, you'd call it... A+R=T.

If you weren't designing, you'd be... Making art or teaching.

Biggest pet peeve? Literally my pets. We have a love-hate relationship: They love me, and I hate them waking me at 5 a.m.

Favorite PR designer? I decided not to study any shows or winners and just go into it cold.

Challenge you hope they bring back? I heard about a car parts challenge. I would like to take a stab at that one.

Challenge you hope they don't bring back? The challenge with the women wrestler/fighters. Love the ladies, not so much what they had to design for them, though.

Do you think you can win PR? Yes and no. Yes, because I feel confident about my ability to design and work under pressure. No, because I work independently of most conventional ideas about designing for a mass market - especially in the current economic atmosphere. But you never know.

Her dress reminds me of Foghorn Leghorn's body for the costumed characters at the Six Flags parks.

She reminds me - in so many ways - of a neighbor I used to have. One of the sweetest people I ever met, very kind and mellow, but you never knew from day to day what she was going to wear. Some days, it was as if she'd gotten dressed in the dark after being blindfolded and spun in circles.

Episode 1 - The designers had to bring an original piece with them, then were told to create a companion piece for it.

Maybe I'm just a sucker for black and white but I just love this.

I love the black and white dresses, but HATE the one she's wearing in her picture above. All she needs is one of those skullcap-ish black motorcycle helmets and she'd look just like a chess pawn.

Critical, how HILARIOUS! I agree! However, when I first saw it I thought "very oddly shaped maternity dress." But I do love the bow on the back when normally I can't stand big bows on the back.

Episode 2 - An unconventional challenge at Dylan's Candy bar, where the designers had $250 to buy material to make an outfit using candy.

Episode 3 - The designers worked in teams of two to create one runway design for former Project Runway contestants. The color of their Lexus GS vehicle must be seen in the final garments. Each pair had $300 and one day to complete the task. The winner also gets the big bonus of accompanying his/her client to the Emmys.
