Episode 10 - The designers went to Radio City Music Hall to find out about their challenge. With $250, they were to design a glamorous, modern costume for the Rockettes. It needed to be versatile enough to wear year-round and appealing from a distance, not just close-up, so people at the back of the hall could enjoy it, too.
Episode 11 - Heidi has a new line of baby clothes, Truly Scrumptious, coming to Babies R Us. This week the designers made an outfit for a toddler, plus a companion piece for the mother. The best boy and girl fashions will be included in Heidi's line.
Episode 12 - The challenge this week was to create an avant garde look inspired by Electric Fantasie--a new makeup line from L'Oreal Paris.
Melissa's pick from the Electric Fantasie collection was Artsy Muse.
Her taste and mine are polar opposites. I do not like androgynous clothes, and I do not much care for leather. I really don't like her high collars, back or front; some of her designs would make me feel like I'd been put into a straitjacket, I like soft fabrics and lots of color. The only design of Melissa's I'd consider wearing was that red and white dress she did, which I thought was quite attractive. I'm surprised she'd in the final four and I can't picture liking her collection, but I'll certainly wait and see what she produces. I'm sure there are many who do like her style.
Dmitry is my favorite. I can't think of much he's produced that I would not like wearing.
I liked that blue dress she made for the office wear challenge, that was photographed for the magazine. I really liked the collar of it and at the time it felt new and interesting. Then she repeated it a couple times and I was "Hmmm...enough already" - she did push herself with colour this time and I guess it was interesting, but I just don't see how it was avant-garde. The choice of hairstyle on the model sold it, I thought.
Episode 13 - The designers had $9,000 and five weeks to prepare a collection. This week, they were to present three looks from their collection to the judges for a chance to show at Fashion Week.
