I think the problem was that Austin didn't choose a particular theme or statement for his collection. He named it "Austin Scarlett" and it was all about pieces he loved but that doesn't necessarily create a cohesive collection. If he had zeroed in on one motiff, I think his collection would have been more successful. He hasn't yet reached the level of brand recognition that his name is a theme in itself.
